Romano House

Beautiful hotel with stunning decoration. Lovingly refurbished to keep the old character but totally updated to be comfortable and trendy. All the staff were fantastic here and accommodated every request I asked if we could move rooms away from the front of the hotel and they moved us and upgraded us at the same time which was a lovely gesture. The room we were upgraded too was lovely and quiet and was so large with its own separate seating area. I also asked one of the staff on the front desk to help me with a booking I had in Palermo and he was only too happy to speak to the other hotel in Italian for me and sort out all my issues. So the rooms were beautifully and very trendily decorated with fully functioning air-con which was really needed during the heatwave in July but the only downside was the showers. These were also beautiful looking but not very functional - the water did not run away which meant the tiny lip seperating them shower from the bathroom frequently over flowed and made the bathroom dangerously slippery and the water from the shower quite often simply went all over the bathroom, but, everything else was perfect. It was a shame the restaurant was closed but there is a lovely roof bar and terrace which was very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Catania itself - a lovely place to finish the evening before bed. I have to say that by turning left there were many restaurants and it was only 5 minutes to the central town and amenities which was perfect although the area near the hotel felt a little run down. One person who deserves a special mention is Antonio who seemed to do everything in the hotel - barman, breakfast service, recommendations - I would like to thank him for making my holiday as he was friendly and I spent many hours chatting to him about Catania, Italy and much more - he is a diamond and the hotel would do well to keep him.

Terrible tbh especially for a so called 4 star. Our room was right next to the lift even though the hotel was definitely not full. The room was so loud that we could hear the staff talking from the reception (!!!!).

Very Nice and beautyful hotel in the heart of Catania. Very clean and modern hotel. I have traveled a lot and this hotel Is one of my favourites. Very good balance between value and money. Special Thanks and greetings to my man Giacomo! Giacomo is super friendly and energetic, giving good tips about the city. We had a lot of jokes and laugh together. Antonio is the man in the restaurant. So friendly and helpful! Thanks Giacomo, Antonio and the other staff of Romano house hotel for making our stay great!

Nice stylish 4 star hotel. My room good size, both bedroom and bathroom. Well maintained, with large bed, good for my single room. I am on top, second floor which is great. Nearby is nice roof terrace where you can sunbathe or chill in the evening, photos included. Also there is a small gym with equipment and free weights. Did not include photo as I am in all of them and believe me you do not want to look at my manly physique. Be aware it is on the edge of the local Red light district, but this is easy to avoid, just turn left out of entrance, not right and avoid alleys. Then you will encounter a good range of trattorias and bars, including a Brit pub, beer pricey but good, and Irish pub that also does food. You can walk to many of the historic sites, main shopping street and lido from here. Hotel Laundry not cheap, but quick, about €6 for a shirt, just washed. But 5 minutes away is launderette which will do a full load service wash for €9.

We arrived Romano hotel really late and Giacomo was there to help us find a room. We really felt that we are so welcome to this hotel, usually you hardly feel it, nobody cares. But he was so friendly, funny and professional! We had amazing room with big bedroom, bathroom and balcony. Really good breakfast and also the nice guy Antonio, who was there to give us the best breakfast experience. He was also so friendly and funny and of course professional. I think it’s hard to find a better hotel where the staff are so nice!

I stayed there in March this year and during my stay I was well looked after by ever so friendly and helpful Giacomo and lovely Ellery whom I can’t praise them enough in their professionalism. The hotel is in a perfect location close to city Centre and had a good sized, nice clean room for a single person with excellent breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel and sure I will use it again next time I am around.
