10euro to enter as you can only see it with a guide. Tour was interesting and the castle itself is quite an oddity to be seen

Definitely a magical place to visit. Book upfront on the castle's website (ticket costs €10 for a guided tour) and bring your camera! It takes approximately 1.5hrs by car from Florence. It's difficult to be reached by public transport. Guided tours are also available in different languages. The place has an interesting history from artistic, humanist and architectural point of view. Further down the road there are a bar and a panini place you can have a refreshing drink and a quick snack like tigelle (a typical delicious Panini from the Bologna region)

Such a beautiful castle, it seems like one you would find in a fairy tale. We bought the tickets online, you need the Green Pass to enter. We booked our slot for midday, our guide was very good and she explained the interesting history of the Rocchetta and its owner. The tour lasts an hour. The price of the ticket is very reasonable. Not very far from here there is a quaint medieval village to visit, it is called La Scola.

An absolute pleasant surprise! We were a group of 6 and both adults and kids enjoyed it. The lady that walked us through was excellent.

Located in the outskirts of the metropolitan city of Bologna in the little town of Riola. Amazing views and a truly magnificent structure ritch with history and interesting backstories about it's founder and tenet. A place not to miss if you happen to have some time on your hands and want to explore places around Bologna. Easily accessible by train or by car. If you happen to chose the train you can easily get one from Bologna Central station, you then need to get off at Riola station from which the Rocchetta is just a few minutes by foot up a hill (not too steep).
