β β β β β Do you want to walk through a medieval city and visit its castle?
Then you must go to Rocca Calascio.
Ideally, go up by car as much as possible and then walk for half an hour enjoying incredible landscapes of the Italian Apennines!

β β β β β Second time when I return here, second year in a row, this time brought the kids as well.... this place is breathtaking, amazing, donβt know how to describe it more.... the view and the scenery is like no other place (apart from Corno Grande ?). Love it, will return here again and again and again!

β β β β β Wow! Visited here in October 2018! It is stunningly beautiful, awe inspiring and with the help of a guide, learnt of its fascinating history.
Like others have mentioned, sensible shoes (flat / runners / hiking boots) would be advisable.
Despite the low hanging clouds, the views were breathtaking.
This would be an ideal spot for lunch (if you packed your own). Take your time here to just sit, reflect and rejuvenate.

β β β β β mesmerizing. astounding. otherworldly. undescribable.
earthly-speaking, it's impressive how ancient people could build something that high (keep in mind that the remains at the edge of the road down south are still part of the old fort!!!)

β β β β β An totally amazing place!
The climb to the top was tough but throughly enjoyable...
The views from the top are mind blowing!!
I was just expecting a ruined castle...but there are also a handful of small shops selling local arts and crafts...and there is also a much appreciated cafe.
Well worth a visit.

β β β β β Great scenery, plenty of space to hike into the hills. Reminded me of the highlands in Scotland. It was rainy and very cold when we went (early October). Check the weather beforehand.

β β β β β Beautiful castle at 1400 metres high. There are different paths to follow. A shorter one from the village of Calascio or a longer one from the village of Santo Stefano.
I would say that the hike was an easy to a medium level, the hardest part are the parts where it goes up on the siede of the mauntain.
Highly recommended if you likes hikes and beautiful views
