★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissimo rifugio circondato da maestose cime dolomitiche, in una bella posizione panoramica. Punto di partenza di numerose escursioni sul gruppo del Sorapiss, Marmarole e Antelao. È un posto accogliente, gestito con cura e con passione. Pranzo ottimo e massima disponibilità, visto che abbiamo potuto mangiare un piatto caldo oltre il tempo massimo. Consiglio a tutti una sosta se passate di qua, ne vale veramente la pena, anche solo per un panino o una fetta di torta!
 Beautiful refuge surrounded by majestic Dolomite peaks, in a beautiful panoramic position. Starting point for numerous excursions on the Sorapiss group, Marmarole and Antelao. It is a welcoming place, managed with care and passion. Excellent lunch and maximum availability, since we were able to eat a hot dish beyond the maximum time. I recommend everyone a stop if you pass this way, it's really worth it, even just for a sandwich or a slice of cake!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Davvero una chicca, una posizione stupenda, gestito meravigliosamente da Tania e la sua Famiglia.
Da un punto di vista architettonico la struttura è rimasta in gran parte quella originale di più di 120 anni fa, costruita come solo un tempo sapevano fare. Anche le parti aggiunte successivamente, non necessariamente recenti, (alcune risalgono a 100 anni fa) restano fedeli allo stile storico. Grandi camerate, bagno di piano e bagno esterno, essenziale come deve essere un rifugio.
Esternamente struttura molto curata con tavoli, panche, un bellissimo prato e fiori ovunque.
Per quanto riguarda l'ospitalità è il vero rifugio di montagna, nulla a che fare con un albergo, se cerchi la comodità, l'agio e i servizi hai sbagliato tu posto (non loro gestione).
Siamo arrivati la sera tardi (21.15, tardi per essere un rifugio alpino) ma nonostante questo Tania ci ha accolto e ci ha servito un ottimo piatto di pasta (e siccome siamo tra montanari e non in riviera romagnola qualche frecciatina sull'orario di arrivo ce l'ha tirata...). Ha anche ritardato leggermente lo spegnimento delle luci per consentirci di sistemarci nella camerata (cosa rara nei rifugi!!!!).
Al ritorno dalla salita al Sorapiss, nonostante fosse metà pomeriggio, ci è stato servito il pranzo (canederli fatti in casa eccezionali) e Tania si è fermata con noi per una lunga e piacevolissima chiacchierata di quelle che solo tra appassionati di montagna si riescono a fare.
Che dire, posto eccezionale, esperienza eccezionale.. non vediamo l'ora di tornarci per tentare l'Antelao e per continuare la chiacchierata.
Truly a gem, a stunning location, wonderfully managed by Tania and her family.
From an architectural point of view, the structure has largely remained the original one of more than 120 years ago, built as only once they knew how to do. Even the parts added later, not necessarily recent, (some dating back to 100 years ago) remain faithful to the historical style. Large dormitories, floor bathroom and external bathroom, essential as a refuge should be.
Externally well-kept structure with tables, benches, a beautiful lawn and flowers everywhere.
As far as hospitality is concerned, it is the real mountain refuge, nothing to do with a hotel, if you are looking for comfort, ease and services, you are in the wrong place (not their management).
We arrived late in the evening (9.15pm, late for an alpine refuge) but despite this Tania welcomed us and served us an excellent plate of pasta pulled it ...). He also delayed the lights off slightly to allow us to settle down in the dormitory (which is rare in shelters !!!!).
On the way back from the Sorapiss climb, despite it being mid-afternoon, we were served lunch (exceptional homemade dumplings) and Tania stopped with us for a long and very pleasant chat about what only mountain enthusiasts can do .
What can I say, exceptional place, exceptional experience .. we can't wait to go back to try the Antelao and to continue the chat.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My Third stay in a rifugio in italy working my way around the dolomites, this was a very busy rifugio due it it being a saturday when I arrived. Staff were brilliant, showed me to my bed, then the outdoor shower which is actually ok. There were 3 groups at the rifugio and I thought it would be chaos at dinner, i was amazed at the team work and the quality of the food, I even got a second helping, they run a tight ship with excellent efficiency. I talked with staff about my walk around the circuit and they advised me against my exit route from the Sorapiss circuit, so i changed my route.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A 'rifugio' like they should be, simple, honest, kind and hard working. No cablecar or road getting up there so you will spend a nice evening amongst mountain and nature lovers who got there by foot; as opposed to other huts in the vicinity that attract hundreds of "Nike-mountaineers" a day.
I have been at San Marco before and surely i will return.
