★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Da Re proseguire lungo la carrozzabile per Locarno e dopo il secondo attraversamento della ferrovia si giunge presso la località Marioccio che si trova un po' spostata sulla destra ripetto alla carrozzabile (poco oltre si trova la fermata ferroviaria d'Isella-Olgia). Si sale direttamente verso S lungo l'ampia dorsale che divide il vallone del Rio del Motto a W da quello del rio del Ferro a E. Il sentiero supera le baite sparse dei prati di Vaccherccio 907 m e rientra nel bosco. Poco dopo ad un bivio si devia decisamente a sinistra per traversare la gola del rio del Ferro e rimontare la dorsale che separa questo dal Rio Negro ad E. Dalla dorsale si sale obliquamente verso SE traversando un valletto affluente al Rio Negro e si raggiunge l'alpeggio dove sorge il rifugio.
 From Re, continue along the road to Locarno and after the second crossing of the railway you will arrive at the locality Marioccio which is slightly off to the right with respect to the road (a little further on is the Isella-Olgia railway stop). Climb directly to the S along the wide ridge that divides the valley of the Rio del Motto to the W from that of the Rio del Ferro to the E. The path passes the scattered huts of the Vaccherccio meadows 907 m and re-enters the wood. Shortly after, at a crossroads, turn sharply to the left to cross the gorge of the Rio del Ferro and re-mount the ridge that separates it from the Rio Negro to E. From the ridge, go up obliquely towards the SE crossing a tributary valley to Rio Negro and reach the pasture where the refuge stands.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rifugio non custodito, bisogna chiedere chiavi. Vedi sito. Comunque è possibile arrangiarsi poco dietro al Rifugio nel bivacco invernale. Posto selvaggio raggiungibile in almeno un paio d'ore da Isella. Posizionato sotto le pendici delle rocce del Gridone. Raggiungibili dopo più o meno 700 d+ dal Rifugio. Gli ultimi 400 d+ abbastanza verticali e con passaggi molto esposti, ma di grande soddisfazione. Panorami impagabili. Dimenticavo!!! In discesa vietato inciampare, si volerebbe direttamente sopra il tetto del Rifugio.
Unguarded refuge, you have to ask for keys. See website. However, it is possible to get by just behind the Refuge in the winter bivouac. Wild place reachable in at least a couple of hours from Isella. Located under the slopes of the Gridone rocks. Reachable after more or less 700 d + from the Refuge. The last 400 d + quite vertical and with very exposed passages, but of great satisfaction. Priceless views. I forgot !!! It is forbidden to stumble downhill, you would fly directly over the roof of the Refuge.
