Bivacco Scaredi

Cozy. Equipped with stove and wood. We slept on the mezzanine in 20 with its sleeping bags. There are other places in woodshed and in the bivouac in front but the latter are not heated. Great view. Fountain with water outside. Unfortunately we found it "dry".

First bivouac entering Valgrande from Malesco. Also suitable as a first excursion. Strenuous path but without danger. Fountains all along the route and fountain at the bivouac. Wood stove in the first building. If full there is the second but without heating, where we slept. An experience to do.

Very nice bivouac, equipped with stove and wood for heating and cooking; pity that, due to some very disrespectful person, it is a bit dirty and with waste that they have not brought back downstream. 5 at the bivouac, - 100 to those who attend it without respect.

The camp is located on a very scenic step, from which you can see the entire Val Loana, the nearby summit of Laurasca, the Alps of Val Vigezzo and Monte Rosa massif. This former mountain pasture into disuse, the camp is spread over two floors and offers a large table with benches and stove on the lower floor, and space them on the beds upstairs. Pastures are present other two cabins: one acts as a large storage room for the wood, while the other provides additional space for beds, although it is quite old and rustic, and best suited to the summer period, since it does not take much the temperature . The bivouac also has a broom to clean, a map of the area, an outdoor table and a water fountain. The route to reach the bivouac is approximately 3.5 km long, 570 meters in altitude and a walk of about 2 hours and 10 minutes (difficulty [E], also suitable for children). The first part is flat, in the valley, then the path passes through a forest for the first 250 meters in altitude. At the beginning of the climb we pass through the ancient kilns where the inhabitants of the valley prepared the cotto. Subsequently, the path leaves the forest and proceeds along a beautiful clearing, to then reach a mountain pasture, Alpe Cortenuovo, active during the transhumance period. From the alp, the trail continues at high altitude for the last 10 minutes, until it reaches the bivouac. Along the route there are three water fountains: one at the beginning, one at Fornaci and one at Alpe Cortenuovo, plus an additional fountain next to the bivouac. From Scaredi there are several paths that lead into the Valgrande Natural Park. The shortest, and one of the most beautiful, is what leads to the top of Laurasca (1h 10 ', 300 meters of altitude, difficulty [EE], not suitable for younger children), from which the view spans 360 degrees. From the bivouac it is often possible to see goats and chamois, especially early in the morning and towards evening.

Beautiful alp with bivouac. In this period the bivouac is closed to avoid gatherings for the covid (like most of the bivouacs in Val Grande). Very scenic area. Starting point for beautiful peaks such as the Laurasca peak (very beautiful and easily reachable with an EE path of medium difficulty but not to be underestimated), or for the Bocchetta di Campo.

Although positioned on the saddle, it offers a panoramic view of the Loana valley to the north and the impervious Val Grande to the south. easily accessible from Val Loana. The area of ​​the hill is relevant from a geological point of view: you can admire traces left by the ancient glaciers on the rounded and streaked rocks surrounding the mountain pasture.
