We recently had the pleasure of spending a long weekend with Sandy, Phil, and Cooper at Relais Ortaglia. Our whole family had such a great time, including our 4 and 7 year old boys. Sandy and Phil really make you feel welcome, almost like you’re just visiting family, that happens to have an amazing Bed and Breakfast in the beautiful Montepulciano. This trip for us, was planned for relaxing family time, to close out our summer. Sandy and Phil were understanding of exactly what we hoped for during our time there, and offered many recommendations that allowed us to get a great Tuscan experience, while not feeling rushed or overwhelmed to always get to the next thing. We saw much of the town of Montepulciano, enjoyed a private tour and dinner at a local farm, and spent a full day pool side at Ortaglia. Sandy prepared a huge, delicious breakfast each morning, that even our picky eaters loved, and the Tuscan bbq with Phil was not only delicious, but enough to feed a small army. You just can’t beat sitting on their balcony, overlooking the hills and vineyards, with a glass of wine at sunset. We’ve traveled to many places throughout Italy, but this trip was a family favorite for us, as every experience was inclusive to the whole family. I will also say, I’m typically one to notice all the small details missed, that could improve ones stay. But, this is the first place I’ve stayed, and actually noticed how amazing the hosts eye for detail was. Sandy doesn’t miss a thing. (They have the most comfortable beds you will sleep in, in all of Italy!) We cannot wait to get back to Relais Ortaglia in Montepulciano.

Having traveled around Italy fairly extensively, I was looking forward to our stay at Relais Ortaglia just outside Montepulciano... but I had no idea just what a treat I was in for. The property itself is breathtaking, with gorgeous landscapes, a wonderful pool, lots of places to lounge and chat outside, and stunning views of the sunset that just defy description. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious, with a bed that's more comfortable than my own at home (much less the sometimes-questionable beds that I've stayed in at other places in Italy!). The breakfast each morning was a highlight of the day, with delicious home-cooked meals made from ingredients we could see growing around the property. That said, as amazing as the "bed and breakfast" part of our experience was, the absolute best thing about Relais Ortaglia is clearly the staff. Sandy and Phil go out of their way to make every guest feel like a member of the family, with a warm welcome upon arrival, generous offers to arrange for tours and restaurant reservations, and on several occasions during our stay, quick help with little 'one-off' things that we needed. (I'm reluctant to say too much about the small things that they did or offered, because I don't want to encourage future guests to be as needy as I was!) We had such an amazing visit with them that one night we cancelled our dinner reservations because we didn't want to get up from our sunset rocking chair conversation with them. Sandy and Phil, you made for an incredible experience. THANK YOU for welcoming us into your home and making us feel like family. And of course, please tell Cooper that no breakfast or sunset cocktail since our stay has been the same without him dutifully sitting by my side for petting.

My husband and I recently stayed at Relais Ortaglia with Sandy, Phil and Cooper. It was hands down our favorite accommodation on our two week Italy trip and we are already planning our return! Sandy was quick to respond with any questions I had before our stay and made sure our days were filled with fun activities in the area along with great dinner recommendations. Sandy even upgraded our room due to a booking cancelation and offered to let us stay an extra day. The location of the bnb was excellent - close to the town of Montepulciano, we were able to walk into town one day. It is also driving distance to Pienza and Siena for fun day trips. Each morning started with a cappuccino and excellent brunch freshly prepared by Sandy and the evening ended with wine on the swinging chairs overlooking the vineyards. We slept soundly in our king bed with comfortable mattress, pillows and comforter. I can’t forget to mention the warm baths in the claw foot tub ? It was such a treat to be treated like family in one of the most magical places in Italy. Treat yourself to an experience of a lifetime here, it’s worth every penny. Thank you Sandy, Phil and Cooper!!

This was our third visit to Relalis Ortaglia and it just keep getting better!! Brand new bathrooms, gorgeous new furnishings in the bedrooms and an expanded fine wine selection. I just love it here and already booked my 4th trip to return at the end of the summer. If you are heading to Tuscany you must stay here. Bonus - Sandy will plan everything for you! Activities, transportation, dinner reservations. Every restaurant she sent us to this trip was incredible. Thank you Sandy, Phil & Cooper!! See you in August!

I recently spent a wonderful long weekend at this gorgeous B&B and can’t wait to visit again. The hosts Sandy and Phil along with their adorable dog Cooper make you feel so at home you won’t want to leave! The grounds and views are breathtaking with an infinity pool overlooking the vineyard and our room was comfortable, quiet and beautiful. If you can, make the time for their Tuscan BBQ, Grill master Phil does not disappoint and Sandy goes out of her way to prepare a homemade breakfast each morning that is to die for! Be sure to ask for recommendations, they know all of the best restaurants, wineries and experiences. Looking forward to our next visit!

We travel a fair amount and Relais Ortaglia is perhaps my favorite place I’ve stayed. No detail is left untouched, the guest rooms were spacious and luxurious, the grounds beautiful and well appointed. Importantly, Ortaglia is perfect for kids, our 7 year old absolutely loved staying there. After 5 hot and somewhat stressful days in Rome we instantly relaxed at Relais Ortaglia. The grounds are picturesque, the pool is wonderful (shaded chairs were definitely a plus, having a view of Montepulciano and the Tuscan valley wasn’t too bad either). We loved waking up everyday to Cooper, their dog, greet us at the bottom of the stairs, and walk to the garden or say hi to the chickens. In the evenings, we always tried to make it to the swings overlooking the sunset over the valley for a glass of wine or two. Best of all are the hosts, Sandy, Phil and of course Cooper. Sandy is an amazing guide - helping us book dinner at amazing local restaurants, wine tasting, and tours at a pig farm of all places. She’s also a wonderful cook, making amazing breakfasts sourced from their garden - personal favorites include a ricotta/zucchini tart and some of the best muffins I’ve eaten. Phil makes a heck of a cappuccino too! Together they truly care about the community they live in, showcasing the beauty of Tuscany, and you’ll feel cared for as their guest! Thank you Sandy, Phil, and Cooper for making our stay so amazing and memorable!!!

We stayed at Relais for our Honeymoon and it was beyond incredible! Aside from the 360 degree views, the amazing breakfasts, and the well designed rooms, Sandy was the best host! She set up all of our tours and dinner reservations, and made sure we were treated like celebrities! Even after we left Sandy made sure we had VIP treatment at a hotel in Florence! Our only regret was not staying longer! We will definitely be back and will be recommending staying here to all of our friends and family! Grazie!

We booked several nights at Relais Ortaglia in the middle of our trip to Rome and Florence. Our only regret is that we didn't spend more time in the country with Sandy, Phil, and Cooper. Sandy and Phil have thought of absolutely everything! From wine in the room, fresh flowers in every single room, beautifully decorated accommodations, brand new bathrooms, and comfortable spaces outside to lounge and relax. The B&B is surrounded by a vineyard and the most breathtaking view. It was fun to see the chickens where our eggs came from on site and let me tell you....the breakfast was insanely good! Every day there were freshly made pastries, quiche, egg dishes, fruit, and the best juice we've tasted. Sandy was so helpful from the moment we booked by providing guidance on places to stop on our way driving from Rome to the B&B. She helped us book adventures while we were there in Montepulciano and then provided maps and guidance on where to drive on our way out of town. We typically don't like to stay in the same place twice since there are so many places on our bucket list but we've agreed...we will return to Relais Ortaglia!
