Die Chiesa Madre hat ein großen Vorplatz zu dem Stufen führen. The main church of Erice on the western edge of the small town near Porta Trapani is also called Duomo dell'Assunta. The Chiesa Madre has a large forecourt with steps leading to it.

Dedicato a Maria Assunta, il duomo fu costruito all'inizio del XIV secolo nel luogo dove era sorto un primitivo tempio cristiano ai tempi dell'imperatore Costantino, nel IV secolo d. C., e dove poi era stata eretta una chiesa alla Vergine Maria. Il Duomo è in stile gotico ed è affiancato a un bel campanile a bifore costruito sulla base di un'antica torre di avvistamento. Assolutamente da vedere. The Cathedral of Erice, a medieval town of great value and undoubted charm near Trapani, is the main place of worship of the place, a stone's throw from Porta Trapani. Dedicated to Maria Assunta, the cathedral was built at the beginning of the 14th century in the place where a primitive Christian temple had risen at the time of the Emperor Constantine, in the 4th century AD. C., and where a church to the Virgin Mary was later built. The Cathedral is in Gothic style and is flanked by a beautiful mullioned bell tower built on the basis of an ancient watchtower. A must see.
G	Giovanna Co on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bellissimo borgo medievale situato a 750 metri di altitudine. Luogo suggestivo... con le sue stradine strette e in pendenza. Il Duomo è meraviglioso soprattutto al suo interno la chiesa è di una bellezza abbagliante. Al suo fianco la torre di Re Federico III... si sale attraverso un corridoio di scale strette fino ad arrivare al terrazzo del campanile... da lì una vista mozzafiato. Altra bellezza il castello di Venere tenuto e preservato egregiamente. Il borgo è molto piacevole da girare in estate grazie anche al fatto che si sta veramente bene per le temperature più miti e l’aria fresca. Beautiful medieval village located at 750 meters above sea level. Charming place ... with its narrow and sloping streets. The Cathedral is wonderful especially inside the church is of dazzling beauty. Next to it the tower of King Frederick III ... you go up through a corridor of narrow stairs until you reach the terrace of the bell tower ... from there a breathtaking view. Another beauty is the castle of Venus very well kept and preserved. The village is very pleasant to go around in summer thanks also to the fact that it is really good for the milder temperatures and fresh air.

Bellissime la sacrestia e l'ala a nord della navata sinistra, non interessata dalla ricostruzione tardo-ottocentesca e custode di interessanti capolavori artistici come l'ostensorio argenteo di Pietro Lazzara (1602). Prezzo del biglietto esagerato. Wonderful exterior, interior in late 19th century neo-gothic style (nothing special) but with a splendid marble cone by Giuliano Mancino (1514). The sacristy and the north wing of the left aisle are beautiful, not affected by the late nineteenth-century reconstruction and the custodian of interesting artistic masterpieces such as the silver monstrance by Pietro Lazzara (1602). Ticket price exaggerated.

Questo splendido edificio, edificato nel primo impianto agli inizi del Trecento, tra incuria ed inopportune modifiche subì diversi crolli e rifacimenti nel corso dei secoli, il più strabiliante dei quali riguardò la radicale riedificazione della copertura avvenuta nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento. Si aumentò l'altezza delle navate, le cui volte vennero poi ricamate a stucco con meravigliosi merletti inseriti in preziose cornici in stile gotico-catalano. Il colpo d'occhio è stupefacente, sbalorditivo. Le alte colonne indirizzano lo sguardo verso l'alto e recano ad una fiabesca copertura fatta di trine, pizzi e trafori per un effetto che mozza letteralmente il fiato. Si rimane incantanti da tanta grazia e bellezza. Pregevoli la cinquecentesca pala d'altare in marmo bianco e l'elegante balaustra seicentesca in marmi policromi. Ingresso a pagamento (2.50€/intero, 5€/intero cumulativo con la Torre di re Federico). Admirable example of Gothic and Neo-Gothic architecture in Sicily. This splendid building, built in the first plant at the beginning of the fourteenth century, between neglect and inappropriate changes underwent several collapses and renovations over the centuries, the most amazing of which concerned the radical rebuilding of the roof which took place in the second half of the nineteenth century. The height of the naves was increased, the vaults of which were then embroidered in stucco with wonderful laces inserted in precious frames in the Gothic-Catalan style. The glance is amazing, astounding. The tall columns direct the gaze upwards and lead to a fairytale covering made of lace, lace and openwork for an effect that literally takes your breath away. One is enchanted by so much grace and beauty. The sixteenth-century altarpiece in white marble and the elegant seventeenth-century balustrade in polychrome marble are worthy of note.
