Tra i basamenti delle torri, si trova lo spazio probabilmente occupato da una porta. La strada era parallela a un lato del Tempio di Apollo e probabilmente lo collegava al Tempio di Atena (luogo in cui oggi sorge il Duomo).
Not far from the Temple of Apollo, there are some remains of the ancient walls of Syracuse, commissioned by the tyrant Dionysius. Between the bases of the towers, there is probably the space occupied by a door. The road was parallel to one side of the Temple of Apollo and probably connected it to the Temple of Athena (the place where the Duomo stands today).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sono I resti dell’Antica Porta ritrovati durante i lavori di manutenzione della sede stradale. La porta, eretta da Dionigi il Grande, chiudeva le mura intorno all'isola di Ortigia. Davvero imponenti sono i basamenti delle grandi torri che stavano ai lati della porta.
They are the remains of the Ancient Gate found during the maintenance work on the roadway. The gate, built by Dionigi the Great, closed the walls around the island of Ortigia. The bases of the large towers that stood on either side of the door are really impressive.
