★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Porta Senese è una porta a torre realizzata nel 1379, durante il periodo della costruzione delle mura, durato dal 1371 al 1383. Da questa porta, situata sul lato nord del centro storico, si scorgono la Torre dell'orologio e il Palazzo Comunale, attraverso il corso principale, che è via Soccini. Questa è anche la famosa via Francigena, nota via di Pellegrinaggio che collegava la Francia a Firenze e a Roma, attraverso la Val d'Arbia e la Val d'Orcia. La porta è realizzata interamente in mattoni, costruzione tipica dei centri senesi, costituita da una torre merlata e da tre archi, uno a Sesto acuto, di tipo gotico con un arco ribassato situato al di sopra del portone ligneo, ed un arco a tutto sesto situato sulla parte a torre. Al di fuori della porta sorge un'area verde, la cui vista ci riporta al suo passato. Davanti scorrono il fiume l'Ombrone e il torrente Arbia che confluisce qui in questo fiume, inoltre sono stati piantati tutt'intorno degli alberi di susini che in primavera conferiscono un'atmosfera di fioritura alle mura di questo borgo.
Porta Senese is a tower gate built in 1379, during the period of construction of the walls, which lasted from 1371 to 1383. From this gate, located on the north side of the historic center, you can see the Clock Tower and the Town Hall, through the main street, which is via Soccini. This is also the famous Via Francigena, known as the pilgrimage route that connected France to Florence and Rome, through the Val d'Arbia and the Val d'Orcia. The door is made entirely of bricks, a typical construction of the Sienese centers, consisting of a crenellated tower and three arches, one in Sesto acute, of the Gothic type with a lowered arch located above the wooden door, and a round arch located on the tower part. Outside the door there is a green area, the sight of which takes us back to its past. In front of it flow the Ombrone river and the Arbia torrent that flows here into this river, moreover plum trees have been planted all around which in spring give an atmosphere of flowering to the walls of this village.
