★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Porta Romana è di accesso al centro storico dalla parte sud/est. Nel XII secolo la città di Sarzana costrui un complesso murario difensivo, che comprendeva anche i torrioni: S.Francesco, Genovese, Stella, e Testafortele. Le porte anticamente erano quattro, attualmente ne restano visibili solo due: questa e quella al lato nord/ovest Porta Parma. La struttura attuale risale al 1783 in questa data vi fu la collocazione della statua della Madonna in una nicchia sopra l’arco. La porta monumentale a fornice unico è rivestita in marmo bianco di Carrara, ha anche uno stemma della città di Genova. Porta Romana è molto bella, sopra di essa vi è la strada che porta alla Cittadella. Percorrendola si arriva al centro storico: ricco di bei palazzi con altrettanto bei portali, chiese e piazze molto interessanti, sia dal punto di vista storico che architettonico!..
Porta Romana is access to the historic center from the south / east. In the 12th century the city of Sarzana built a defensive wall complex, which also included the towers: San Francesco, Genovese, Stella, and Testafortele. In ancient times there were four gates, currently only two remain visible: this one and the one on the north / west side Porta Parma. The current structure dates back to 1783 on this date there was the placement of the statue of the Madonna in a niche above the arch. The monumental door with a single arch is covered in white Carrara marble, it also has a coat of arms of the city of Genoa. Porta Romana is very beautiful, above it there is the road that leads to the Citadel.
