R	Renata Maria Chiarello on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Porta Dieda o dei Leoni. Aperta nel 1541 nella massiccia torre superstite dell'ormai inesistente Castello Inferiore (Castello dei Berri) del 1315. Serviva a difesa della strada proveniente da Padova e Cittadella. Era affrescata anche da Jacopo Bassano. È una delle tre Porte di Bassano che possiamo ancora ammirare. Le altre due sono : Porta delle Grazie, in Viale dei Martiri, con attigua l'omonima chiesetta e Porta Granda o delle Campanelle, che permette l'accesso da Piazza Terraglio al Castello degli Ezzelini e quindi anche al Duomo del 998, addossata alla Torre di Ser Ivano. Divide via Beata Giovanna da via Roma. È quindi in pieno centro storico di Bassano del Grappa. Venne eretta per volere del Podestà Domenico Diedo, da cui prende il NOME. Dopo il restauro del 2005, la gente non passa più distrattamente, anzi si ferma ad ammirare la facciata a Sud. Colpiscono molto questi disegni molto grandi. Un tempo la maggior parte delle persone era analfabeta, quindi gli affreschi, anche da lontano, dovevano far capire chi fosse il padrone del territorio, le appartenenze politiche, militari e familiari. Tra le raffigurazioni, che sono in parte sovrapposte, spiccano l' AQUILA imperiale ed il LEONE alato Veneziano che regge il libro aperto, inequivocabile simbolo del legame di Bassano del Grappa con la Repubblica Serenissima. Poi c'è il DOGE, in piedi, nell'atto di ricevere, avvolto in un mantello scarlatto. Ci sono frammenti dell'insegna della corona di Francia e delle spire della vipera Viscontea. E poi, sotto, ecco 3 stemmi di 2 Podestà e di un capitano e, all'estrema destra, il vessillo di Bassano(1405) Spiace, però, che il senso di marcia con le auto, non permetta di ammirare subito questa Porta. Vi consiglio di parcheggiare l'auto e fare due passi. Così potrete vedere, a poca distanza da Porta Dieda, a Sud, la statua della Beata Giovanna Maria Bonomo del 1784 (compatrona di Bassano). Opera dello scultore Padovano Felice Chiereghini. Donata alla città dall'abate Giambattista Roberti, devoto della Bonomo, ma anche appassionato dell'abbellimento urbano. Visita consigliata. O	Oronzo Cosola on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trovo veramente splendido il fatto che una struttuta urbana medioevale possa restare perfettamente conservata ed inserirsi senza nulla perdere delle sue caratteristiche nella nostra vita attuale. Le mura e le porte di questa splendida cittadina lo dimostrano. I find the fact that a medieval urban structure can remain perfectly preserved and fit without losing its characteristics in our current life really splendid. The walls and doors of this splendid town prove it.
