★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To all the restaurants I’ve rated 5 stars: I’m deducting 1 star to make room for Poldo e Gianna Osteria, which was truly a 5-star dining experience. This was the exact cuisine we were looking for in Rome. The rigatoni were cooked perfectly al dente with a delicious tomato sauce, and the sage ravioli meal was the show stopper. Wait staff were kind and engaging, and there was no wait to dine in the minimalist but lovely main dining room at 9 pm. To all the tourists like me who may be overwhelmed by your guidebooks and google reviews, stop your searching and come here for love at first bite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is likely one of my favourite places in Rome. Nestled in a little leafy corner of a side street the service was by far the best we had in Rome. The servers were so great/patient with explaining the dishes to us. The pasta was perfect and the pork rib was actually fall off the bone. Such a different flavour from anything I’ve tried. Now, the real show stoppers were the desserts. I have never had such a great tiramisu. There “sabriciolata”, an italian lemon custard with flake pastry on top goes as one of my top 3 desserts ever. Really great aperol spritz and a wonderful way to start off the holiday. We went for lunch but can imagine you’d probably need a booking for dinner.

The ravioli with burrata filling was one of the best dishes I had and the tiramisu was just divine.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Reserve a table because this little restaurant fills up fast. We had an app and 3 different pastas. We finished with the carbanara. The waiter said we could die happy with this pasta and he was right. I would give it 4.5 if possible.

Poldo e Gianna Osteria has the family-run feel of a classic Italian eatery, but instead of dimly-lit mahogany and deep red floral wallpaper, the ambience is bright and elegant.
We had a unique tempura cod for the appetizer, the highlight of which was the homemade savory basil mayonnaise dip. We shared the ravioli next with three hefty noodles glazed in a light buttery sauce. The main course was a sliced steak with roasted potatoes — which was the best steak we had in Italy, rivaling a famed steakhouse in Florence. The chocolate lava cake was a sweet end to a great night.
