Fanno parte del complesso plebano la chiesa, i resti del battistero, la canonica e le strutture fortificate dell'insediamento. La pieve ha un impianto a tre navate a copertura lignea e mostra il sovrapporsi di molte fasi costruttive nel corso del tempo. La parte originaria è riconoscibile nella disposizione degli spazi e nella parte sinistra della navata; gli interventi realizzati dopo il terremoto del 1171 riguardarono la parte destra mentre nel XV secolo si lavorò soprattutto nella facciata e nella navata sinistra The complex structure of the parish church of Sant'Appiano is the best testimony of the considerable importance assumed by the church. The church, the remains of the baptistery, the rectory and the fortified structures of the settlement are part of the pleban complex. The parish church has a three-nave plan with a wooden roof and shows the overlapping of many construction phases over time. M	Marco Minetto on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Percorrendo la stretta strada di cresta che costituisce la sponda destra orografica della Val d’Elsa, all’apice di una collina e seminascosta da una antica e irta scalinata in mattoni, ci è apparsa ancora la pieve di Sant'Appiano, illuminata dal sole di un limpido pomeriggio invernale. È protetta e incastonata nel suo piccolo borgo, con la sua facciata semplice e pulita, impreziosita dai resti delle quattro colonne antistanti, che le conferiscono un particolare fascino ed un alone di mistero, lo stesso quasi dimenticato tra i ricordi di bambini, con le piacevoli sensazioni ricevute nel toccare quelle pietre antiche, riscaldate dal sole, durante una breve gita domenicale.
