Oltre al sedime della costruzione, è ancora visibile la suggestiva e imponente facciata, che dà un'idea dell'originaria monumentalità dell'edificio. Una costruzione decisamente ricca di fascino, probabilmente anche per il carattere “romantico” che suscitano le rovine della chiesa. La Pieve di Sillano è una delle più antiche di tutta la diocesi, risulta infatti mensionata in un documento nel 945 d.C. L'antica e suggestiva Pieve di San Giovanni Battista di Sillano oggi si presenta come un imponente rudere di cui rimane il sedime, quasi integro, e buona parte della facciata. Appena avvertibile il presbiterio, rialzato di alcuni gradini, oggi avvolti dalla vegetazione, e quel che rimane dell'impianto dell'unica abside, di forma semicircolare. L'edificio doveva presentarsi a pianta rettangolare, con una lunghezza che arrivava a sfiorare i 30 metri ed una facciata di circa 15 metri. POMARANCE - THE CHURCH OF SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA IN SILLANO Along the road that leads from the small village of San Dalmazio to the Rocca Sillana, there is what remains of the ancient parish church of San Giovanni Battista di Sillano: a large building, now abandoned for centuries and reduced to the state of ruin. In addition to the site of the building, the suggestive and imposing facade is still visible, which gives an idea of the original monumentality of the building. A building definitely full of charm, probably also due to the “romantic” character that the ruins of the church evoke. The Pieve di Sillano is one of the oldest in the whole diocese, in fact it is mentioned in a document in 945 AD. The ancient and evocative Pieve di San Giovanni Battista di Sillano today looks like an imposing ruin of which the grounds, almost intact, and a good part of the facade remain. The presbytery is barely noticeable, raised by a few steps, now surrounded by vegetation, and what remains of the system of the only semicircular apse. The building had to have a rectangular plan, with a length that reached 30 meters and a facade of about 15 meters.
