★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Abbiamo passato il capodanno in piazza, ci siamo era pienissima ma non ci sono stati problemi, musica e drink offerto dal comune di Lucca, una serata tranquilla e divertente in una città magica e suggestiva all'ombra del Duomo di San Martino.
 We spent the New Year in the square, we were very full but there were no problems, music and drinks offered by the municipality of Lucca, a quiet and fun evening in a magical and suggestive city in the shadow of the Cathedral of San Martino.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Deriva il proprio nome dalle vecchie case, di proprietà della famiglia degli Antelminelli, che furono rase al suolo nel 1301 per far posto alla piazza.
Al centro della stessa si trova una zona cinta da colonnette di marmo unite da catene, da cui è derivato il nome di piazza dei ferri, all'interno della quale è presente una fontana, costruita in marmo ed in forma circolare, che nel 1832 Lorenzo Nottolini progettò e fece realizzare. Essa, ora collegata all'acquedotto comunale, in origine era rifornita di acqua mediante l'acquedotto del Nottolini proveniente dalle fresche sorgenti dei monti pisani e prelevata nella zona di Guamo.
La piazza, che in precedenza era adibita a parcheggio per residenti, dopo il restauro della pavimentazione e della fontana del 2012 è diventata area pedonale.
It derives its name from the old houses, owned by the Antelminelli family, which were razed to the ground in 1301 to make way for the square.
At the center of it there is an area surrounded by marble columns joined by chains, from which the name of piazza dei ferri derives, inside which there is a fountain, built in marble and in a circular shape, which in 1832 Lorenzo Nottolini designed and built. It, now connected to the municipal aqueduct, was originally supplied with water through the Nottolini aqueduct coming from the fresh springs of the Pisan mountains and taken from the Guamo area.
The square, which was previously used as a parking lot for residents, has become a pedestrian area after the restoration of the pavement and the fountain in 2012.
