Unfortunately you can not look into it. Ascent from Laives in about 35min.

Very nice view over the Adige Valley and to Bolzano. Partly steep ascent. Also accessible by bike via the new gravel road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La cappella di San Pietro (Peterköfele) è un'antica chiesetta che si erge su uno sperone di roccia a circa 400 m di quota dominando l'abitato di Laives. L'iconica cappella compare perfino sullo stemma comunale ed ha origini antichissime risalenti attorno all'XI secolo. All'epoca facente parte di Castel Liechtenstein, questo fu distrutto nel 1290 dal conte Mainardo II ma per devozione la chiesetta venne risparmiata. Realizzata in semplice stile romanico ad un'unica navata, in periodo tardo-gotico venne dotata di una nuova volta a botte, venne ricostruito il tetto e probabilmente fu anche aggiunto il campanile prima assente. Negli anni 2007/2008 è stata parzialmente restaurata ma ciò nonostante la cappella rimane quasi sempre chiusa al pubblico e gli interni sono talmente spogli da far pensare non sia possibile celebrarvi la Santa Messa. Si può facilmente raggiungere a piedi percorrendo il sentiero 1 all'imbocco della Vallarsa.
The chapel of San Pietro (Peterköfele) is an ancient church that stands on a spur of rock at about 400 m above sea level, dominating the town of Laives. The iconic chapel even appears on the municipal coat of arms and has very ancient origins dating back to around the 11th century. At the time part of Castel Liechtenstein, this was destroyed in 1290 by Count Mainardo II but out of devotion the church was spared. Built in simple Romanesque style with a single nave, in the late Gothic period it was equipped with a new barrel vault, the roof was rebuilt and the bell tower, which was previously absent, was probably also added. In the years 2007/2008 it was partially restored but nevertheless the chapel is almost always closed to the public and the interiors are so bare that it is not possible to celebrate Holy Mass there. It can be easily reached on foot along path 1 at the entrance to Vallarsa.
