Einfache aber schön gelegene Almhütte. Küche für so eine Hütte einfach super und lecker. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Auch die Zimmer und Lager sind angemessen und sauber. Eine richtig Hochalpine Hütte eben.
 Starting point for the ascent of the Ortler.
Simple but beautifully situated alpine hut. The kitchen is simply great and delicious for a hut like this. Service very friendly. The rooms and camps are also adequate and clean. A real high alpine hut.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una porta di accesso all'Ortles, splendido rifugio in posizione bellissima, si vede già da Solda prima di partire nella sua posizione incastonato nella cresta della montagna. Accoglienza perfetta, con una gentilezza e disponibilità squisite. Cena molto buona ed abbondante, forse si potrebbe fare qualcosina in più a colazione ma siamo a 3000 MT senza mezzi per portare rifornimenti ?
A gateway to the Ortles, a splendid refuge in a beautiful position, can be seen from Solda before setting off in its position nestled in the crest of the mountain. Perfect welcome, with exquisite kindness and availability. Very good and plentiful dinner, maybe you could do a little more for breakfast but we are at 3000 MT with no means to bring supplies ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place with amazing view and home cooked food.Very cosy staff, also offer guests accommodation. The hut can be accessed from two different valleys, Sulda or Trafoi and is a hub for rock-climbers wanting to explore the glaciers. From Trafoi village it took us about 4 hours and a half to get to Payer but we returned the same way in the same day so it was quite a challenge. In fact we started at Franzenshöhe and walked to Payer in the same day and back which took us about 11 solid hours walking. We would definitely do it again, perhaps from Sulda this time. We love Süd Tyrol!
