★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Take the Pulpit line from Sold and walk up path 12 then 5. It's a very easy but rewarding walk through a lovely green valley, full of rhododendrons, marmots and pretty cows. Have a warm strudel or delicious red berry Kaiserschmarren. Worth the trip!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A mountain retreat in Vinschgau / Venosta Valley, located above the town of Sulden / Solda, within average reach from the mountain station of the chair lift (approximately 2 hours, depending on your walking speed). At an height of 2700 metres above the sea level, this retreat is peculiary as you may see its structure from the beginning of the walk, and this is helpful, at least you see your deatination and the end of the path. We visited the retreat on a windy and cloudy day: we could not enjoy the Ortler / Ortles group of mountains in front, but appreciated the warm atmosphere. The space is limited, then you have to share your table with others, but this is the true mountain spirit. The retreat - named Serristori in Italian - offers a nice choice of warm dishes (pasta, knodel, meat) and desserts at very reasonable prices. The personnel is very kind and welcoming. Do check the weather forecasts before planning your visit: if the sun is there, you may have a magnificent view on breath-taking mountains.
