A	Anna Maria Polverino on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Situata in Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, l'edificio fu edificato, alla fine del Settecento, su una preesistente Chiesa di Gesuiti. Poi, col passare del tempo, è stato sottoposto a svariati interventi e cambiamenti. La facciata esterna fu completata solo verso la fine dell'Ottocento grazie al finanziamento di Papa Pio IX, nato a Senigallia. La Cattedrale ha subito numerosi restauri per i danni causati dai vari terremoti che hanno colpito questo territorio fortemente sismico. L’interno ha tre navate, suddivise da pilastri e con copertura a cupola. Pregevoli le numerose opere che vi si possono ammirare. Ho apprezzato in particolare il Battistero, dove fu battezzato Pio IX, riccamente lavorato. A lui è dedicata pure una statua bronzea, in atto benedicente, lungo la navata centrale. All'interno della sagrestia è conservato il sarcofago di san Gaudenzio risalente al VI secolo d.C.: su di esso sono raffigurati i simboli dei quattro evangelisti e un'iscrizione informa che Sigismondo, vescovo di Senigallia, vi pose nel 590 le reliquie di San Gaudenzio, che poi furono trafugate nel 1520 e portate a Ostra. Located in Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi, the building was built, at the end of the eighteenth century, on a pre-existing Jesuit church. Then, over time, it underwent various interventions and changes. The external façade was only completed towards the end of the nineteenth century thanks to the funding of Pope Pius IX, born in Senigallia. The Cathedral has undergone numerous restorations due to the damage caused by the various earthquakes that hit this heavily seismic area. The interior has three naves, divided by pillars and with a domed roof. The numerous works that can be admired are valuable. I especially appreciated the richly worked Baptistery, where Pius IX was baptized. A bronze statue is also dedicated to him, in a blessing act, along the central nave. Inside the sacristy there is the sarcophagus of San Gaudenzio dating back to the sixth century AD: the symbols of the four evangelists are depicted on it and an inscription informs that Sigismondo, bishop of Senigallia, placed the relics of San Gaudenzio there in 590, which were then stolen in 1520 and brought to Ostra.
