★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È, dopo quella di Santa Maria di Castello, la chiesa più antica della città, uno dei pochi monumenti superstiti dell'Alessandria medievale. Fu eretta a partite dal 1320, ma nella sua storia andò incontro a numerose trasformazioni: già nella seconda metà del XIV Secolo venne sostituita da un edificio più grande, a sua volta ampliato dopo il 1466 con la costruzione della cappella maggiore, fino alla realizzazione delle navate laterali, della sacrestia e delle altre cappelle, i cui lavori terminarono nel 1576. Sebbene si trovi in una posizione un po' sacrificata, riesce comunque a catturare lo sguardo grazie al suo aspetto puramente gotico padano. Molto bello il portale d'ingresso.
It is, after that of Santa Maria di Castello, the oldest church in the city, one of the few surviving monuments of medieval Alexandria. It was erected starting from 1320, but in its history it underwent numerous transformations: already in the second half of the 14th century it was replaced by a larger building, which in turn was enlarged after 1466 with the construction of the main chapel, until the construction of the side aisles, the sacristy and the other chapels, whose works ended in 1576. Although it is in a somewhat sacrificed position, it still manages to catch the eye thanks to its purely Padan Gothic aspect. The entrance portal is very beautiful.
