E si affaccia sulla piazza più assolata e ariosa di Alessandria. Una zona che è una nicchia per bambini e famiglie. Bisognerebbe frequentarla di più. Beautiful the church! The cloister with cultural activities of various kinds is a pleasant and stimulating point of entertainment for the whole city. It overlooks the sunniest and most airy square in Alessandria. An area that is a niche for children and families. We should attend more.

The church is the most representative monument of the historical and religious memories of the city, after the destruction of the Cathedral of San Pietro by Napoleon in 1803. It is not only the oldest monument, as its first foundation is prior to the official birth of Alessandria, but also preserves good paintings and a valuable Lamentation over the death of Christ, from the Lombard school, from 1530.

It is undoubtedly the most important monument in Alexandria, as well as the oldest church in the city, among the very few surviving buildings from the medieval era. The bell tower is noteworthy and, inside, the sixteenth-century sculptural group in terracotta depicting the Deposition is not to be missed.
