Disappointing experience for families with children as it is widely advertised for the train but you must book early in the morning to leave when you don't know. ..... In addition a piece is to be walked on.

An interesting visit to the discovery of the ancient mines of this area to be carried easily in half a day (preferably in the morning). The visit on foot to the mine is very informative. The guide was very clear, kind and prepared in even provide more information on the lives of miners and the history of the place. Appropriate clothing is needed, closed shoes (better if trekking or with a rubber sole, no flip-flops or slippers, as the soil can be a bit slippery due to humidity in some points of the route in the mine) and sweatshirt (even in summer the average internal temperature is around 15-18 degrees). It is essential to bring small bottles of water with you. The visit on foot to the mine is certainly interesting and instructive for children over 6-7 years, for the little ones there is the "journey" with the yellow miners train (there is however a bit of a trek to reach it ). Given the small size of the tunnels and the light just enough (during the trip with the train at some point it remains in the dark for a few moments) is not a path suitable for those suffering from claustrophobia or is uncomfortable in closed and cramped places. The area has a comfortable bar / restaurant with sandwiches, pizzas, a restaurant and a picnic area with tables and chairs in the ruins of an ancient building shaded by centuries-old trees.

A beautiful experience, the train under the mountain is incredible. Absolutely to avoid by those who do not like closed spaces

We got here only because of bad weather, there was a thunderstorm in the morning and therefore we were looking for something entertaining not at sea. Firstly, our navigator did not want to search for house 34 / b on Via di San Vincenzo, so we arrived late to catch all 3 possible events, so I won’t say what is offered in the first part, but judging by the photo, the people in helmets are accompanied guide descend into the mine. We managed to part 2: "ride a train across the mountain" and Part 3: "climb to the town of San Sylvester, abandoned in the Middle Ages." The train schedule is clearly aligned with visits to San Sylvester. Part 2 will be more interesting for families with children, as a train of small open wagons, but with a roof for safety, drives a path in the mountain through a real tunnel along the path of the trolleys of a mine mine, the work in which was stopped 40 years ago. It is recommended to take something warm, as inside is cool. From the terminal station on the other side of the mountain, you can simply go back, or you can get out of the cars and go uphill to the town of San Sylvester, abandoned from the Middle Ages, and then return to the train. Perhaps we liked this part most of all, especially since organized excursions are carried around the town, there are small reconstruction of houses, but mostly everything is in ruins. Marble ruins ... Although information boards give a very clear idea of the life of the city and the occupations of residents. At the entrance to the city, at the gate on the marble pavement, a board for playing the Mill was scratched and preserved from those times, at least it was by that name that I knew this game in childhood :) I would like to warn you, it’s interesting in the city above, but count on their strength and shoes when climbing to him from the station. The downside of the whole visit is that both the train and the San Sylvester guides communicate only in Italian. A guide in the city tried to give us small comments in English, but she did not have time for this, therefore, much less than in Italian. In front of the city we were given audio guides in English, it seems the choice was still in French and German, but there was definitely no Russian. Although it turned out to be very difficult to go on an excursion and try to listen to the audio guide. I’ll immediately warn you that without a ticket you can’t get into the city itself, you can only get closer to it. Before the train they give a brochure in English, but it must be read in advance, it’s dark in the mine. In front of the train station there is a small museum dedicated to this mine.

Sehr abwechslungsreiches Museum.
Very varied museum. On the one hand, you learn a lot about mining in the region, the guided tour of the mine and of course the ride on the old mine train are great. We were lucky enough to benefit from the very low number of visitors in September 2020. The tour through the old castle and settlement is also great. Excellent guides, the best open-air museum I know so far. Highly recommended also with children. The park is apparently available twice on Google.

It is beautiful and interesting. You can visit a minira on foot (temperino mine), visit one with the little train and visit the fortress. Places for the various visits are limited, so you have to go to the ticket office and book. The only sore point is not having refreshment points. When you arrive at the fortress after a trek you find almost nothing. The advice is to bring everything from home.
