β β β β β Really good museum with good exhibition telling the history of papyrus, and modern efforts to reconstruct ancient techniques. Housed in a nice building with actual research ongoing and the pre eminent scholar in the field in the museum.

β β β β β Everything you wanted to know about papyrus but were afraid to ask. An old- fashioned museum with some interesting exhibits including papyrus boats from Africa. A video showing alternately in English and Italian gives a lot of context and further explanation to the exhibits. β¬5 entry.

β β β β β This was such an amazing place to visit. I really admired it and was happy to find it on the map. All the history it gathers through the centuries, all the examples and also, the dedication which was created with are truly impressive. The people who work in the museum were very friendly and helpful. I think that if you pass by Siracusa, you should definitely have a look into this museum.

β β β β β Super interesting charming museum about papirus. It is all very well organized and explained. I honestly did not know much about papirus nor that they were so conected to Sicily. There is a plus: the views...! Its literally next to the sea and each room has a view to die for.
Friendly staff, cheap entrance (maybe they should charge more). Great experience to incorporate to a day of walking around Ortigia

β β β β β Interesting and clearly laid out small museum telling the history of papyrus. Friendly staff who came and switched videos to English for us without any prompting, which was appreciated. Worth a visit if you have any interest in Mediterranean history.

β β β β β Mostly dedicated to the history of the cultivation, spread and usage of the Papyrus plants in Sicily and the mediterranean. The museum is well located in an old monastery , a few meters from the sea.

β β β β β OK, but nothing special, the detail of how papyrus is made, ie what, other than water, is it soaked in to seal it etc. isn't addressed beyond a passing comment to "special chemicals' the experiental archaeology they must have done isn't really gone into.
It's nicely spread out, here is an interesting 1990 video narrated in English and Italian, and it's a bit more expensive than some of the other museums / sites....
Nice couple of papyrus boats though
