★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rievocazione medievale suggestiva, nell'antico borgo di Stilo, famoso per la Cattolica e per aver dato i natali al filosofo Tommaso Campanella. La manifestazione è ben organizzata: lo staff aiuta nel parcheggiare, il punto informazioni, ben visibile appena arrivati nella piazza, fornisce la mappa dei punti delle singole attrazioni, tutti i figuranti sfilano inizialmente nell'arena del Palio, così da poterli comodamente ammirare seduti sugli spalti. Il Palio in sé è un torneo tra cinque casati, che si contendono la vittoria gareggiando in prove di abilità a cavallo e nella corsa finale che assegna la vittoria: divertente, però pecca a tratti di credibilità, scimmiottando alcune manifestazioni più famose (le finte spinte tra cavalieri prima della gara finale, che ricordano il Palio di Siena, cadute da cavallo studiate), ma in fondo è scena e finzione, quindi si può perdonare. Terminata la gara, a sera, il borgo si popola di cortei storici, sbandieratori, fachiri, giullari, antichi mestieri, cartomanti, falconieri, archibugieri, teatro e... fumi di brace e profumi di cibo!
Evocative medieval re-enactment, in the ancient village of Stilo, famous for the Cattolica and for being the birthplace of the philosopher Tommaso Campanella. The event is well organized: the staff helps in parking, the information point, clearly visible as soon as you arrive in the square, provides the map of the points of the individual attractions, all the participants initially parade in the Palio arena, so that they can be comfortably admired sitting stands. The Palio itself is a tournament between five families, who compete for victory by competing in tests of skill on horseback and in the final race that awards the victory: fun, but sometimes lacks credibility, mimicking some of the most famous events (the fake thrusts between riders before the final race, reminiscent of the Palio di Siena, falls from horses studied), but in the end it is scene and fiction, so you can forgive. After the race, in the evening, the village is filled with historical processions, flag-wavers, fakirs, jesters, ancient crafts, fortune tellers, falconers, arquebusiers, theater and ... embers of embers and scents of food!
