Palazzo Sciarra Colonna di Carbognano is located in Rione II (Trevi) in Via del Corso at no. 239 in Rome, and on the other side near the suggestive Trevi Fountain. The palace was built at the end of the 16th century, so it appears as a beautiful example of Renaissance architecture. The façade has two floors with a large rusticated central portal framed by two large columns with Ionic capitals. Topped by a balcony with balustrade and a high string course continues throughout the facade. The windows on the first floor are framed and architraved, while those on the second are only framed. Even the corners are rusticated. The element that makes it interesting is the so-called Sciarra gallery (now pedestrian), in Art Nouveau style where you can admire a particular pictorial cycle (1885-1888) created by Giuseppe Ciellini. The paintings on the first floor depict the bourgeois woman (of the time) depicted in the various stages of her life and in daily activities, such as marriage, a lovely conversation, caring for her son, etc. In the second floor the female virtues are depicted: Faithfulness, Prudence, Mercy, Humility etc.

This is one of the most suggestive Roman galleries of the marvelous afresco tour of eclecticism where The Virtues of Women are represented with their exemplary occupations of the past. Imagine the floats that entered here to leave near the doors of the apo-hundred of the noble family. A wrought iron vault with its wonderful stained glass windows. So today you can enjoy the wonderful cafes and restaurants in this theater.
