★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il palazzo Giorgio Doria, detto anche palazzo Doria Quartara, è un edificio sito in piazza San Matteo al civico 14 nel centro storico di Genova. ....Ubicato in prossimità della chiesa gentilizia dei Doria, nasce nel XVI secolo come aggregazione di più case medievali....Il portale, con sopraporta raffigurante San Giorgio e il drago, è copia dell'originale (fine XV secolo) trafugato agli inizi del Novecento. Essa ha forme ornamentali copiate dal portale di palazzo Giorgio Doria, posto nella piazza stessa ....Una curiosità: se guardate attentamente da vicino le strisce bianche e nere della facciata di questo palazzo, noterete che l'altezza di quelle nere è, seppur di poco, più grande rispetto a quelle bianche. Questo perchè, se fossero tutte della stessa misura, per un effetto ottico, le nere sembrerebbero più piccole e dunque si perderebbe visivamente l'omogeneità che si ha in facciata con l'alternanza dei due colori. Questa antica tecnica è utilizzata in molte facciate bicrome dei palazzi genovesi.....Il palazzo Giorgio Doria....continua ad attirare turisti da ogni parte del mondo.. ....

 Palazzo Giorgio Doria, also known as Palazzo Doria Quartara, is a building located in Piazza San Matteo at number 14 in the historic center of Genoa. .... Located near the noble church of the Doria family, it was born in the 16th century as an aggregation of several medieval houses .... The portal, with an over door depicting St. George and the dragon, is a copy of the stolen original (late 15th century) at the beginning of the twentieth century. It has ornamental shapes copied from the portal of Palazzo Giorgio Doria, located in the square itself .... A curiosity: if you look closely at the black and white stripes of the facade of this building, you will notice that the height of the black ones is, albeit slightly larger than the white ones. This is because, if they were all of the same size, due to an optical effect, the blacks would appear smaller and therefore the homogeneity of the façade would be visually lost with the alternation of the two colors. This ancient technique is used in many two-tone facades of Genoese palaces ..... Giorgio Doria palace .... continues to attract tourists from all over the world .. ....

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Prima di tutto, non confondetevi... il Palazzo Giorgio Doria, è solamente quello giallo, con il portale che raffigura San Giorgio che sconfigge il drago... le altre foto, prese da un'altra recensione, ritraggono la chiesa e gli altri palazzi dei Doria ( Palazzo Lamba Doria, Palazzo Branca Doria, Palazzo Domenicaccio Doria, Chiesa di San Matteo...), che formano la piazza di San Matteo
Il Palazzo Giorgio Doria fu costruito nel XV secolo, da Giorgio Doria, sui resti di altre case medievali, una delle quali, er quella di Oberto Doria.
È famosa per il suo bel portale, che raffigura San Giorgio che uccide il drago.
