Non so quanto sia voluto, ma è baricentrico da piazza di Spagna e da piazza del Popolo. La facciata principale, in stile rococò, occupa un fronte stradale di circa cinquanta metri in via del Babuino e ha l’ingresso al 51, impreziosito da un portone di nobile fattura. I prospetti esterni sono tinteggiati a più colori, pregevoli per bugnati, cornici e stucchi. Il portale principale, sormontato da un balcone, è abbellito da vari decori, tra cui i caratteristici draghi. Anche all’interno, nel cortile ampio e ben tenuto, oltre alle figure ornamentali, la presenza dei rettili alati è ricorrente, e simboleggia il casato Boncompagni. Un tempo, la statua del sileno si trovava qui, in una delle nicchie d'ingresso, poi, in epoca più recente, è tornata ad ornare la via, a cui ha dato il nome, anche se in posizione differente rispetto al passato, ovvero attigua alla chiesa di Sant'Atanasio dei Greci. The Boncompagni legacy This is a building of prestige and historical value. I don't know how much it is intended, but it is central to the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo. The main facade, in Rococo style, occupies a street front of about fifty meters in via del Babuino and has the entrance at 51, embellished with a noble door. The external façades are painted in several colors, valuable for ashlar, cornices and stuccoes. The main portal, surmounted by a balcony, is embellished with various decorations, including the characteristic dragons. Also inside, in the large and well-kept courtyard, in addition to the ornamental figures, the presence of winged reptiles is recurrent, and symbolizes the Boncompagni family. Once, the statue of the Silenus was found here, in one of the entrance niches, then, in more recent times, it returned to decorate the street, to which it gave its name, even if in a different position than in the past, that is adjacent to the church of Sant'Atanasio dei Greci.
