Dimora storica della baronessa D'Amely e poi per anni casa delle suore stimmatine, il castello è purtroppo non ancora restaurato e visitabile solo in rare occasioni collegate ad eventi di promozione turistica. L	La bottega della fantasia by Carla on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visitato ieri (24/08/18)in occasione dell'evento 3 giornate dedicate a questo castello, 24-25-26/08. Molto bella la rappresentazione di duelli e tiri con l arco con dei bravissimi ragazzi della scuola di Assisi. Molto brava anche la ragazza che spiegava usi delle spezie nel medioevo. Era prevista anche, per chi voleva al costo di€1,l assaggio di una bevanda di quel periodo l 'ippograsso.I miei figli erano rapiti dai suoi racconti! Prevista anche prova di elmi e scudi dell epoca. Il castello.....un piccolo castello molto importante x il paese era prevista visita x apertura straordinaria. È un po' malandato che da poco di proprietá del comune. Per caso abbiamo incontrato delle anziane che da piccole andavano a imparare ricamo li quando c erano delle suore e raccontavano con amore i loro ricordi e che ogni anno tornavano a visitarlo durante l' apertura straordinaria. Nel castello c è solo un affresco degno di nota all' entrata dove venne ricavato un oratorio con raffiguranti la Madonna di Melendugno e dall' altro Dio con alle spalle un ulivo ...... Peró molto mal ridotto ?. Cmq da visitare c era anche da mangiare tutto buono? Visited yesterday (24/08/18) on the occasion of the 3 days event dedicated to this castle, 24-25-26 / 08. Very beautiful is the representation of duels and archery with some very good boys from the Assisi school. The girl who explained uses of spices in the Middle Ages was also very good. A	Andrea Indiano on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Torre a pianta stellare costruita per motivi di difesa nel XVI secolo, divenne in seguito palazzo Baronale sotto la famiglia D"Amely che lo ha abitato fino al secolo scorso. Attualmente dopo un periodo di abbandono il comune sta facendo delle manutenzioni e un incaricato ci ha potuto far visitare un area del castello. Metto 5 stelle per la piacevolezza delle descrizioni dell'accompagnatore, confidando che in futuro la struttura possa diventare un punto di visita importante e ricco di storie. Risalente al 1500, il palazzo è il simbolo della società feudale che, sotto la casata dei D'Amely, resiste a Melendugno fino alla fine del secondo conflitto mondiale. L'edificio, ha un buon potenziale turistico tra cui un affresco unico. Ma, a tal fine, necessita di un profondo restauro e di un buon piano di valorizzazione. Presenta un articolato portale d'ingresso baroccheggiante, con lo stemma dei D'Amely, succeduti ai Paladini ed una statua della Vergine. Gli interni, suddivisi su due piani, sono un labirinto di camere, stanzette, sgabuzzini e bagni, tutti caratterizzati da colorati pavimenti in cementine antiche, ad eccezzione della sala con camino che conserva ancora il parquet settecentesco. Il giardino, con alberi da frutto ed altre essenze locali, si affaccia su un tratto dell'antico fossato, dove si intravedono le celle delle patrie galere. Ha certamente bisogno di un'attenta e rispettosa ristrutturazione, ma merita davvero una visita. Very particular baronial palace with a star plant, in the heart of the municipality of Melendugno. The garden, with fruit trees and other local essences, overlooks a stretch of the ancient moat, where the cells of the homeland prisons can be glimpsed. It certainly needs a careful and respectful refurbishment, but it is really worth a visit.
