Si parte con un filmato in 3D e poi si sale alla scoperta di fossili e reperti. Il palazzo si trova nel centro storico di Matera ed è sicuramente da visitare.

Per quanto riguarda l'esposizione permanente, piccola ma ricca. Ottima l'idea di mostrare il video in 3D della caverna dove è conservato l'uomo di Altamura. G	Giuseppe Pulin on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Al piano terra s'inforcano gli occhiali 3D per gustarsi uno straordinario filmato realizzato con riprese tridimensionali e commentato in diretta (un po' come ai primi cinema di fine '800) dall'archeologa del museo, simpatica e preparatissima cui porre qualsiasi domanda, certi di trovare delle risposte che spesso non sono altro che ulteriori dubbi "fondati scientificamente" su cui provare a ragionare e informarsi ancora. Al piano di sopra un percorso conciso ma esauriente con cartellonistica aggiornata alle più recenti scoperte della biologia evoluzionistica e reperti antropologici "di base" ma sempre interessantissimi, soprattutto per i neofiti. Il pezzo veramente forte, e imperdibile per chi passa per Altamura, arriva alla fine, con una ricostruzione dell'abside della grotta di Lamalunga in scala 1:1. Upstairs a concise but exhaustive path with posters updated to the most recent discoveries of evolutionary biology and "basic" anthropological finds but always very interesting, especially for newbies. The really strong piece, and unmissable for those passing through Altamura, arrives at the end, with a reconstruction of the apse of the Lamalunga cave in 1: 1 scale.

Facendo biglietti integrati con altri musei della zona, in questo periodo c'è in regalo, nei forni che hanno aderito, il pane tipico di Altamura ??? molto bene, bravi!!!
