Arriving in the central square of San Cesareo, the Osteria San Cesario is on the right, already well known for its past with the famous Anna Dente. Today we find a different reality but in my opinion exceptional, a revisited and enriched cuisine, thanks to the two Chefs named Andrea who give life to an avant-garde and gourmet menu, with starred dishes. I premise that I will not describe all the dishes, the photos will speak for themselves, but above all you have to go and try their delicacies with your taste buds. The restaurant inside has been renovated but with an eye to maintaining tradition. The place is very welcoming and Matteo the waiter is very kind and helpful, he helps in the choice of wines and the menu. Thanks to the Chefs we were able to opt for a menu that allowed us to take a tour in their world, consisting of various appetizers that travel through the past, such as chickpeas, (but with an eye always for innovation thanks to the inclusion of truffles black), passing through a cocoa parmigiana, hot beans with crispy bacon and black bread croutons, 96-hour leavened fried pizza, up to a salmon tartare. We then proceeded with two first courses, both exceptional, and the tortelli with wow effect, really explosive, but with the delicacy of the lime that cleansed the mouth and left a pleasant fruity and fresh taste, the half pacchero wonderful and balanced in its taste between cream of courgettes, crispy speck, courgette flowers, confit cherry tomatoes and pecorino romano foam, as well as being very good also really beautiful to the eye. The two seconds ... well I tell you that I didn't even have time to photograph the second course of the second course or the pig, it was exceptional, cooked for 18 hours at a low temperature, the first of the seconds instead was the grilled octopus or better a picture of grilled octopus, with a unique crunchiness, while very tender inside. The meal was accompanied with an excellent dotted Malvasia, and I recommend, ask for the bread, it is made by them, and it is exceptional. Congratulations on your choices, we will see you very soon ...

We went on a vacation, NOT to see just the standard tourist places(like Colloseum and museums), but more of the "typical" Italian lifestyle and places. This restaurant simply blew me away. It's a family restaurant passed down for generations. Same goes for the recipes. The food tastes TOTALLY different to what you taste in a regular "tourist/commercial" restaurants. To put it simple: "the taste of the Tiramisu made me become emotional!"

Simply put, will never go back to this place. Owner lady is an elderly woman, maybe was having a bad day, was short staffed and a very hot day today... We ordered a plate of fettuccine al ragù and gnocchetti pasta. Told us how they were short staffed etc etc. and to be patient / no problem. We ordered 1/2 liter of red house wine, they brought us 1/4 liter and charged us over 5 euro for that. The two pasta dishes were 14 euro each (crazy). She justified the high cost due to these being hand-made pastas... They charged us a “coperto fee”, which is normal in most italy restaurants... but they did not not charge a penny to the folks eating near us that we were talking to when the bill came. TOURISTS BEWARE / they will skin you alive in this place - not worth the wait nor the cost. Save your euros and go somewhere else, you will be glad you did.
