★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Situated in the Monti neighbourhood, Osteria Della Suburra had an outside area for al fresco dining as well as a traditional, rustic interior.
We obviously had a couple of Aperol’s (€6 each) and tucked into an Antipasto with a selection of cured meats (€7) which was such a bargain. This was followed by the Bucatini all’ Amatriciana with pancetta, guanciale (pig’s cheek) pomodoro and pecorino (€10) and the Trenette Al Pesto with basil, garlic, pistachio and Parmesan (€10).
Both the pasta dishes were huge portions (probably double the size I have in the UK) and served al dente. The service was friendly and the food was delicious and affordable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What wonderful experience. The food was amazing. We’re English speakers with a phrase book, and the staff was understanding and patient. We stopped here after a Colosseum tour. It’s a short walk towards an area with lots of shops and directly next to a metro.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ AVOID! These reviews here saying “authentic Roman restaurant” are either fake or from people who have literally never eaten Italian food. I really should have known better but the host of my mother’s air bnb recommended it—now I’m sure she’s getting a cut. RUDE service, not a single Italian person eating or working there, food was practically inedible, like made earlier and reheated, full of oil and not good oil. I’m writing this review at 5am because I woke up with a terrible stomach ache and thought I should warn people ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cozy atmosphere, authentic Italian meals.
We ordered pappardelle al cinghiale and spaghetti alle vongole veraci. Each dish was around 12-14€. Not cheap but worth it for the quality of the food, since it's homemade pasta. Only wish the portions had been larger.
The food was great, tasty and delicious; the service not so much.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We took the local specialties (hand made ravioli and mushrooms) and got tiny portions of food. The ravioli were good but the mushrooms spongy and burnt. Very disappointing for 12 or 13€ the dish!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice place. In the heart of Monti but very understated. A lot of options but simple and good food without frills and at fair prices. I tried the homemade pasta with mussels and the “torta della nonna” and house white wine and was not disappointed in any way! As always in Rome, highly recommend making a reservation but if you go early enough here you will probably be okay!
