La facciata molto impreziosita da bassorilievi in marmo; poi la chiesetta, che appare graziosa ma spoglia; dietro l'aula di preghiera "l'oratorio della giustizia", un trionfo. Splendido. Costruita nel 1452, ha la facciata policroma che crea grazie alla pietra rosa e all'azzurrite e la malachite particolari effetti di luce. All'interno, la chiesa ha una struttura gotica, l'altare è costituito da una sepoltura paleocristiana dove è conservata la salma del beato Egidio. Dietro l'altare, si trova l'oratorio con un bellissimo soffitto a cassettoni . . Un po' spoglio a dire il vero, ma con alcune opere rimarchevoli. In particolare l'altare ricavato dal sarcofago del IV secolo del Beato Egidio, una copia della Deposizione di Raffaello del suo contemporaneo Orazio Alfani e un Gonfalone (ossia un dipinto da portare in processione come invocazione tipicamente alla Madonna) dipinto da Benedetto Bonfigli durantre la pestilenza del 1464. Nato a Firenze nel 1418 e morto a Perugia nel 1481, si formò nelle scuole di Donatello e Michelozzo. Numerose furono le sue opere ma, l'aver partecipato al progetto e costruzione del Tempio Malatestiano di Rimini con Leon Battista Alberti e Piero della Francesca, ne segnano il percorso figurativo che qui, nella decorata facciata dell'Oratorio, ebbe inizio. Le composizioni dei pannelli laterali anticipano quelli che realizzerà a Rimini pochi anni dopo. L'interno è tipicamente legato alla dottrina francescana con la sua essenzialità spaziale i cui unici richiami cromatici sono dati dalle listature e cordonature di mattoni a faccia-vista che evidenziano le strutture. The Oratory of San Bernardino is one of the most beautiful sixteenth-century architectural complex of the city of Perugia. The precious facade is the work of Agostino di Duccio.
