If you want to learn more about Magna Grecia, then you should pay a visit to this museum. It's collection of golden jewelry is stunning.

One of the most boring museums I've visited, most of the artifacts displayed aren't even the originals, but copies. Even these copies aren't very interesting, since most of them are vases with similiar motifs on all of them

Absolutely worth visiting if you are in Puglia as a region or about an hour away from Taranto. The whole museum is bi-lingual, with inscriptions in Italian and English, and everything is really well explained. The museum has two floors you can visit, and they have a bit of an eclectic "one floor at a time open" policy, but it's not really a huge issue. The collection itself is fantastic and has many many objects that are either beautiful or just plain interesting or simply wow. It contains objects from the Greek and roman times aswell, so one can follow the cultural evolution quite well

This is an absolute must for any traveller interested in Greco Italian Art. It has some of the finest delicate terracora figurines with original colous, sublime delicate Roman jewellery and marble sculptures you have ever seen either in Italy or Greece, including a superb bronze sculpture of Zeus. Naturally for the best examples of Bronze sculptures you have to visit Reggio de Calabria to see at close range its exquisite Riace Collection. This museum guarantees enormous pleasure to even the most unenlightened Greco-Italian mind.

Great museum, I just didn't like that the visit time was limited for the restrictions, we had to hurry up for each room to be free for other visitors...there was always someone from the museum breathing on my neck..could be better organised

This museum starts in prehistory, and mostly has Greek and Roman artifacts. I thought it was great! I needed about 4 hours in the museum, at least. Normal people will only need 1-1.5 hours, unless they are interested in ceramics.

I have never before seen so disagreeable staff as here. We had to come back, as buying a ticket was impossible on the same day and only online. Then, in full Covid, we had to stay in a group to listen to Italian explanations, while my children don't speak that language. And that all aggressively communicated. Concerning the collection - beautiful pieces, but presented as a gathering of artefacts only. No story available. No archaeological context. This type of exposition fosters pillage. I had to go to Wikipedia to learn of the details of the athlete grave. The museum building itself is ok, but the staircase in the style of an elementary school.
