S	Stefano Manzo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Museo della Via Ostiense, realizzato dal 1954, si trova all’interno di Porta San Paolo, visitandolo si possono osservare le modificazioni che sono avvenute nel corso dei secoli . Visitandolo nella parte più alta si può osservare un bel panorama, specialmente dal lato dove si può ammirare la maestosa Piramide e l’area archeologica limitrofa e l’ameno Cimitero acattolico. Nell’interno del Museo oltre vari calchi di iscrizioni e reperti funerari spiccano tre arcosoli provenienti da una tomba del III secolo d.C. ritrovata presso la Basilica di San Paolo, i quali rappresentano: 1)Il titano Prometeo che crea l’uomo. 2)Un Faggiano (simbolo cristiano della vita ultraterrena). 3)Allegoria dell'anima rappresentata come un pavone in un giardino. A testimonianza dei vari usi ai quali è stato adibito il complesso della Porta di San Paolo, all’interno di una torre possiamo ammirare affreschi del XIII-XIV secolo che ornavano una cappella di tipo bizantino. L’ingresso al museo è gratuito. Per la sua particolare configurazione, per visitarla vi sono molte scale, purtroppo non è fruibile dai disabili. The Via Ostiense Museum, built since 1954, is located inside Porta San Paolo, and by visiting it you can see the changes that have occurred over the centuries. Visiting it in the highest part you can see a beautiful panorama, especially from the side where you can admire the majestic Pyramid and the neighboring archaeological area and the pleasant non-Catholic Cemetery. Inside the Museum, besides various casts of inscriptions and funerary finds, three arcosolia stand out from a tomb of the 3rd century AD found at the Basilica of San Paolo, which represent: 1) The Prometheus titan who creates man. 2) A Faggiano (Christian symbol of the afterlife). 3) Allegory of the soul represented as a peacock in a garden. As evidence of the various uses to which the complex of Porta di San Paolo was used, inside a tower we can admire 13th-14th century frescoes that adorned a Byzantine-style chapel. Entrance to the museum is free. Due to its particular configuration, there are many stairs to visit, unfortunately it is not accessible to the disabled.

K	Kharmencita Brueckner on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ MUSEO della via OSTIENSE in ROME - means Museum in the Qstiense Street or Ostiense Street Museum. We went here by means of Train and stopped by Piramide Metro Station. Just by seeing from a distance i can see this cute interesting small Castle-like architecture surrounded by busy streets all around it forming like a "Round About" for the vehicles. . Inside of this small fortified castle-like structure is a free Museum. We have had a hard time crossing the street not because there was no traffic lights but we were afraid of the speedy running cars in all directions and so many traffic lights to watch about. To cross to this Museum was not so comfortable for us because the traffic was tough, and we didn't want to stress our holiday so we decided not to come inside but just took some photos from the outside. Actually only the front part looks better but the backside is historically old and ruined. Still interesting to see anyway. I heard they open on Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 until 1:30 and close on Mondays.
