Un museo che vale il viaggio e si completa con la visita alla casa/studio del pittore. Ci si trova nella piazzetta dove è stato concepito il grande e famoso dipinto "Il quarto stato" . Se siete golosi...a Tortona sono nati i "baci di dama". The museum is located in Tortona, combining Pellizza's works with other painters of the time. A museum that is worth the trip and is completed with a visit to the painter's house / studio. We are in the small square where the great and famous painting "The fourth state" was conceived. If you have a sweet tooth ... the "baci di dama" were born in Tortona.

Per il museo occorre più tempo, se desiderate leggere le tavole illustrative oltre a immergervi nelle immagini. E l'intero borgo offre spunti per tornare ancora. Nice experience, exciting to enter the studio as if the painter had just left and was coming back shortly thereafter. Good volunteer guides. The museum takes more time if you want to read the illustrative plates as well as immerse yourself in the images. And the whole village offers ideas for returning again.

Interessante il racconto della vita del pittore e la visita dello studio mantenuto proprio come era abitato da Pellizza. Very interesting is the visit to the Museum and the projection in the multimedia room on the "Quarto Stato". Even the studio and the house are worth a visit, all thanks to trained guides who demonstrate the passion for art and the enthusiasm in handing down the painter's works. We will be back!

K	Kathryn Gosciewski on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I've seen this painting in all my Italian history books and never knew the name of the painting, author, and location. "Quarto stato" (fourth state..which represents the working class after the nobility, church and bourgeoisie) was painted in a small town in Lombardia by the artist Giuseppe pelizza. He used his neighbors, (construction workers, maids, and other blue-collar professions) as models. The painter himself didn't live to see the impact that his painting had, but his daughters donated his bottega that you can still visit. From the lab you can walk over to the piazza and see the real size replica where the painting came to be. I also appreciated the showing at the museum that talks about how the idea evolved. All this is free. With all the efforts the volunteers put in keeping the memory of the painter alive, i asked where the donation box was.
