★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questo monumento, realizzato da Lombardi, può apparire ai nostri occhi retorico, ma dovete collocarlo temporalmente, ai primi decenni post-risorgimentali, quando opere con queste caratteristiche erano, più che richieste! La linea è semplice, neoclassica ma con qualcosa di nuovo, di fresco. Insomma, nella sua semplicità, merita uno sguardo attento!
This monument, created by Lombardi, may appear rhetorical to our eyes, but you have to place it temporally, in the first post-Risorgimento decades, when works with these characteristics were more than required! The line is simple, neoclassical but with something new, fresh. In short, in its simplicity, it deserves a careful look!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Monumento, in marmo di Botticino, ricorda l’insurrezione popolare contro il dominio austriaco, le X Giornate, che diedero a Brescia il nome di “Leonessa d’Italia”. L’'Italia è rappresentata come una giovane donna che regge una corona di alloro ed abbraccia la bandiera.
The Monument, in Botticino marble, recalls the popular uprising against Austrian domination, the X Days, which gave Brescia the name of "Lioness of Italy". Italy is represented as a young woman holding a laurel wreath and hugging the flag.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ...non passa di certo inosservata questa statua vicino a piazza della Loggia a Brescia!!...il monumento alla Bella Italia o Bell'Italia... è un monumento in marmo...dedicato ai caduti delle dieci giornate di Brescia!!!...è stato realizzato nel 1864 da Giovanni Battista Lombardi e donato alla città da Vittorio Emanuele II!...il monumento presenta un alto basamento a pianta quadrata...e a bassorilievo...i fatti salienti dell'insurrezione popolare: dalla formella sul fronte in senso antiorario...si trovano l'Insurrezione in piazzetta Tito Speri...il Combattimento a Porta Torrelunga...la Fucilazione degli insorti catturati e i Funerali dei caduti!!...a coronamento si trova una figura femminile che impersona l'Italia con un grande stendardo e...nella mano tesa davanti a sé...una corona d'alloro!!!...per non dimenticare!!!...
