La prima volta che sono stato a Volterra era il 2006 e ogni volta che ho la fortuna di tornarvi, almeno una volta all'anno , mi sono auto imposto la regola di acquistare un bronzetto nell'Officina del signor Montagnani per accrescere sempre di più la mia collezione di arte etrusca. Qui oltre alle splendide fatture delle opere realizzate , nel suo laboratorio si respira la passione e la maestria degli artigiani e artisti di un tempo, di quelle maestranze che ormai sempre tendono a svanire soppiantate dal consumismo e dalla produzione di massa. I suoi prodotti non sono minimamente accostabili a prodotti simili fatti in leghe (e non in bronzo come quelle del Signor Spartaco ).Sono un collezionista e un ex archeologo e vi posso assicurare che avere le sue opere in casa bene esposte si ha la sensazione di possedere delle opere d'arte originali e non di un soprammobile o del mero e semplice souvenire per turisti. Vasto assortimento e squisita disponibiltà dell'artigiano fanno della Bottega del signor Montagnani una tappa da non mancare per chi visita Volterra. Unica pecca ma SOLO per un collezionista come me..mi piacerebbe ritrovare delle statuine di diversi anni fa che ormai sono fuori produzione. A true artist! The first time I was in Volterra was 2006 and every time I am lucky enough to come back, at least once a year, I have self-imposed the rule of buying a small bronze in Signor Montagnani's Workshop to increase more and more the my collection of Etruscan art. Here, in addition to the splendid invoices of the works, in his workshop you can feel the passion and craftsmanship of the artisans and artists of the past, of those workers who by now always tend to fade, supplanted by consumerism and mass production. Its products are not at all comparable to similar products made in alloys (and not in bronze like those of Mr. Spartaco). I am a collector and a former archaeologist and I can assure you that having his works well exposed at home has the feeling of possess original works of art and not a mere or simple souvenir for tourists. Vast assortment and exquisite availability of the craftsman make Mr. Montagnani's Workshop a must-see for those visiting Volterra. The only flaw but ONLY for a collector like me .. I'd like to find some figurines from several years ago that are now out of production.
