M	M. M. on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una delle pochissime chiese rurali della città superstiti. Si trova all'interno di lama La Trofa, “affluente” della ben più famosa Lama Fitta. Secondo studi effettuati, il tempio sarebbe stato edificato sopra un preesistente ipogeo. Tale ipotesi sarebbe confermata anche dal diverso materiale delle pareti: in tufo pugliese quelle sopra il livello del suolo, in roccia calcarea (tipica delle costruzioni sotterranee) al di sotto. Edificata tra il 1738 e il 1780 per volere dei fratelli Pietro e Diego La Torre, oggi è in stato di abbandono. Si trova all'interno di un terreno privato, ma è facilmente raggiungibile. Gli interni, accessibili in quanto la struttura è stata privata del suo portone d'ingresso, oltre all'affascinante architettura interna, offrono ben poco: è stata depredata di tutto quello che poteva offrire. Ma il "vuoto" dell'ambiente rende ancora più emozionante la presenza dell'affresco raffigurante la Madonna di Costantinopoli, posta proprio sopra quello che era l'altare. One of the very few surviving rural churches in the city. It is located inside the La Trofa blade, a “tributary” of the much more famous Lama Fitta. According to studies carried out, the temple was built on a pre-existing hypogeum. This hypothesis would also be confirmed by the different material of the walls: in Apulian tuff those above the ground level, in limestone (typical of underground constructions) below. Built between 1738 and 1780 at the behest of the brothers Pietro and Diego La Torre, today it is in a state of neglect. It is located within private grounds, but is easily accessible. The interiors, accessible as the structure has been deprived of its entrance door, in addition to the fascinating internal architecture, offer very little: it has been plundered of everything it could offer. But the "emptiness" of the environment makes the presence of the fresco depicting the Madonna of Constantinople, placed right above what used to be the altar, even more exciting.
G	Gianni Natuzzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Graziosa chiesetta rupestre in stile barocco posta un paio di metri sotto il livello del terreno al cui interno é sopravissuto solo un bellissimo affresco raffigurante la madonna col bambino. La pietra calcarea delle fondazioni e il tufo dell'elevato farebbero pensare che la chiesa sia sorta su di una preesistenza ipogea molto antica anche per un'altra particolaritá: l'ingresso guarda a ovest e non ad est (verso Gerusalemme) come vorrebbe la tradizione cristiana! Pretty little rock church in Baroque style placed a couple of meters below the ground level inside which only a beautiful fresco depicting the Madonna and child survived. The limestone of the foundations and the tuff of the elevation would suggest that the church was built on a very ancient underground pre-existence also for another particularity: the entrance looks west and not east (towards Jerusalem) as tradition would like.
