La loggia, che si eleva sulle acque della Seriola, venne realizzata nel 1592, probabilmente da un allievo di Andrea Palladio, su committenza di Leonardo Valmarana, membro della famiglia che a metà del ‘500 aveva acquistato il terreno per trasformarlo in un giardino all’italiana. La struttura è di fatto un tempio a sei colonne di ordine dorico posto a cavallo di uno dei bracci al che in questo punto forma la roggia Seriola, uno dei corsi d’acqua che bagnano Vicenza. Nel lato posteriore la loggia ha tre stanze che si saldano ai resti delle mura scaligere. Sul fianco occidentale, concluso superiormente da un timpano, la loggia si apre lateralmente sul giardino mediante un’apertura ad arco. La loggia, come gli altri edifici palladiani in città, è inserita nella lista dei patrimoni dell’umanità UNESCO dal 1994. The Loggia Valmarana is located within the municipal Salvi Gardens, adjacent to the ancient walls of Porta Castello. The loggia, which rises above the waters of the Seriola, was built in 1592, probably by a pupil of Andrea Palladio, commissioned by Leonardo Valmarana, a member of the family who had bought the land in the middle of the 16th century to transform it into a garden Italian. The structure is in fact a temple with six columns of Doric order straddling one of the arms to which at this point forms the Seriola irrigation ditch, one of the waterways that wash Vicenza. On the back side the loggia has three rooms that are welded to the remains of the Scaliger walls. On the western side, concluded above by a tympanum, the loggia opens laterally on the garden through an arched opening. The lodge, like the other Palladian buildings in the city, has been included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1994.

È uno dei primi punti di interesse che si visita a Vicenza dopo l’arrivo dalla stazione ferroviaria. The loggia may be beautiful, but the adjacent context is really bad: dirty water full of garbage, worn out fence, building adjacent to the dilapidated canal.
