Un luogo imperdibile a Torino, necessario per esaudire ogni tipo di curiosità intellettuale. A fantastic bookcase, full of hard to find books, run by a very cultivated woman who has raised generations of students and scholars. An unmissable place in Turin, necessary to fulfill every kind of intellectual curiosity.

La signora con la mente deve essere rimasta agli anni '40, poveretta. In ogni caso fa un sacco di commenti non richiesti e quando le è mancato il resto ha chiesto a me di chiedere alla mia amica (lì vicino a noi) le monete mancanti. Ma quando mai si è vista questa cosa? Ri-di-co-la. There is an old woman in particular who manages, and who has allowed herself comments on my sex (I have long hair despite being male). The lady with the mind must have remained in the 1940s, poor thing. In any case, she makes a lot of unsolicited comments and when she missed the rest she asked me to ask my friend (there near us) for the missing coins. But when did you ever see this thing? Silly.

Non ho mai riscontrato problemi con il personale né con le tempistiche di consegna sino ad oggi, quando un piccolo incidente avvenuto nel pomeriggio gli è valso la perdita di un cliente (l'ennesimo, a giudicare dalle recensioni che si leggono qui). La tristemente nota signora ha pensato bene di inscenare un melodramma di fronte a una coda di clienti nel vedermi "trafficare con il telefonino" (parole testuali), insinuando in un bofonchiare confuso e a tratti inintelligibile che stessi cercando lo stesso testo di cui poco prima avevo richiesto il prezzo tramite altri mezzi. Il testo l'ho acquistato, più tardi, per dimostrarle che si sbagliava. La libreria riscontra, a quanto pare, un calo nelle vendite negli ultimi anni, e a giudicare dall'episodio avvenuto oggi non serve un occhio acuto per intuirne il perché. Bookshop certainly well stocked. I have never encountered problems with the staff nor with delivery times to date, when a small incident that occurred in the afternoon earned him the loss of a customer (yet another, judging by the reviews you read here). The sadly known lady thought it well to stage a melodrama in front of a queue of customers in seeing me "trade with the phone" (textual words), insinuating into a confused and at times unintelligible mumbling that I was looking for the same text that I had just before price requested by other means. I purchased the text later to show her that she was wrong. The bookstore has apparently seen a drop in sales in recent years, and judging by the episode that took place today, you don't need a keen eye to guess why.

Sono stato "accolto" da due signori, un uomo e una donna, ed entrambi, al mio "buonasera" pronunciato guardandoli in faccia, non hanno risposto. Mai più ci metterò piede, anche perché la zona é ricca di altre librerie. Rudeness is at home. I was "welcomed" by two gentlemen, a man and a woman, and both, to my "good evening" pronounced looking them in the face, did not respond. I will never set foot again, also because the area is full of other bookstores.

Certamente la posizione per gli studenti di Palazzo Nuovo è comoda, e ovviamente la libreria è ben fornita, soprattutto di testi universitari: ma nulla giustifica un comportamento tanto maleducato. La disponibilità non è esattamente di casa qui. Rude and brusque staff. I won't be back, it's not worth it. Certainly the position for the students of Palazzo Nuovo is convenient, and obviously the library is well-stocked, especially with university texts: but nothing justifies such rude behavior. Availability isn't exactly at home here.

Non parliamo dell'arroganza e dei modi scortesi che utilizzano per rapportarsi al cliente. Persa l'ennesima cliente. Sconsiglio. The rudeness of the ladies who run the bookstore is impressive. We are not talking about arrogance and the rude ways they use to deal with the customer. Lost yet another customer. I do not recommend.

Ora la libreria è stata chiusa: l'arroganza non ha la parola ultima. I am obliged to give a star, but here they do not deserve a single one. Very rude staff (from direct experience). Now the library has been closed: arrogance does not have the final word.
