★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The wind howls down the Scicli vicoli. I am holding my cap still grimacing after drinking salt and lemon, (locally called SELTZ). Displeased by the loud town band playing unpleasant American Christmas songs (which sadly I still hear as I write this review from the comfort of my room), and cold, I take refuge into LeGioie. The proprietor proudly displays a sign reminding it's customer that this is not a restaurant. Indeed it is not. With just 12 seats and the sound of pans and pots and the pleasant Company of Fiorenzo it feels more like eating at a dear family friends house. Everything was as you would hope it is. Simple, tasteful, fresh and perfectly cooked. The storm prohibited the local fisherman from going to sea today so we were warned that the fish was 1 day old. The fish was amongst the freshest I had in quite some time. In every plate You could clearly distinguish the ingredients - ingredients that smell of wintertime in Sicily: lemon zest and red peppers, olive oil and fennel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Generally disappointing. Charming setup and lovely staff, yet the food was poor. Best dish was fresh fish, but seafood pastas had frozen shrimp. Even the pasta was flavorless and tough.
***Edit: Shrimp were evidently not frozen, but still tasteless. Toughness of pasta indicated to me that it was over-cooked, not the al dente you'd expect the Romans to do! Reviews are subjective--it's true--but we preferred other meals in Scicli.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Romantic, secluded location, perfect for a late dinner under the stars. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The fish eaters at the table enjoyed raw shrimps and pasta, the vegan was very happy with the unusual selection of starters and sides. Would certainly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am not one for writing reviews but I must for this restaurant. Our experience here was wonderful. I thought the food was very flavorful. And the service was attentive. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. Vongole, shrimp, red mullet (triglie), zucchini greens. I would go back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Despite the wholesome and cozy atmosphere, the food itself was highly disappointing. The calamari, to my great distress, tasted like a dirty grill! What can a girl do but write a review about such a horrifying experience? To take a beautiful calamari from the Mediterranean Sea and treat it in such a way is well… crushing. That sea creature deserved better. Simply, this establishment is much too expensive for the food it is serving.

Quality, kindness and price make this place unique! They utilise only local ingredients. The peculiarity of the kitchen is to be anchored to what Sicily offers but proposing novel ideas.
Highly recommended if you go to Scicli ??
