1972 - 1974 (whole building well) The construction of the sanctuary dates back to 1972-74, on the initiative of Don Salvatore Polverino and many collaborators, with funds raised from the faithful. The project and construction were handled by Napoleone Marano and concerned both the covered cave and the open space in front. The inauguration was held on 14 July 1974, with the blessing of the bishop Msgr. A. Vozzi. Description The sanctuary of the Piccola Lourdes is adjacent to the monumental complex of the Annunziata and the parish church of the same name, located in the Annunziata hamlet in Cava de 'Tirreni; the context is made up of a widespread urbanization, made up of significant architectural episodes and common buildings, mixed with free and cultivated areas; the territory shows a rather uneven orography that develops between valley areas and hilly slopes. The sanctuary is an atypical religious structure, consisting of a covered environment built in imitation of the Massabielle cave (Lourdes, France) and large open areas functionally connected to it. The whole is configured as a sanctuary-garden, whose liturgical distribution is formed by the presbytery (housed indoors, under the cave) and by the assembly area (made outdoors, in front of the cave) furnished with fixed seats. The cave is covered by an irregular basin covered with large exposed stone ashlars; the extrados is adapted to a roof garden. The uncovered liturgical area has an irregular shape and longitudinal development; it is equipped with various fences, flower beds and plantings. On the left side of this area there are several other open spaces, some of which with a religious purpose, others used as a rest stop. The entrance, on the other hand, takes place at a lower level (connecting with the public road), from which the sacred area can be reached via two curved vehicle ramps (one dismounting to the right and the other to the left of the assembly area).

Walking in the mountains near Cava de 'Tirreni we came across this perfect reconstruction of the Lourdes grotto with many fountains of water, which, they say, has cured people of the disease. Very impressive place.

Well maintained area arranged and clean. In case you want to visit it and hear mass, I advise you to call because I think it is by reservation. We went alone but there was a bus and with them we witnessed the procession and it started at 16.00. I advise you to call for more information.

The place reflects the real Lourdes, beautiful, easy to access internal parking. Only one mole and not a small one; if you buy souvenirs pay attention to the battles in the shape of the Blessed Virgin Mary painted badly and votive candles, (paid € 1.50 but already lit, 6 out of 6, bought directly from me, already screwed because in good faith). In addition to the cave, a perfect reproduction, as I said, there is the ascent of the Via Crucis and the fountains from which to take the water from the spring, always filled from the 3rd fountain counting from your right.
