★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Di proprietà delle famiglie Mazzuca – De Luca, la fontana ornamentale è un’elegante costruzione realizzata, in gran parte, in pietra
calcarea e mattoncini in terracotta», suddivisa in due ordini, con tre bocche d’acqua un tempo abbellite da maschere, ora perdute.
Una scritta richiama, il nome di Lucio Dolcetti sindaco di Castrovillari tra il 1892 e il 1894 e in alto in una serie di piccoli riquadri
campeggia una delicata pittura murale a rappresentare uno scorcio paesaggistico, in cui si vede chiaramente una torre medievale, un
gruppo di casette, i campanili di qualche chiesa e lontano, sullo sfondo azzurro, due barcarole e una vegetazione marina. I terreni in
cui si trovano i magnifici resti della fontana appartennero tra il XIII e il XVIII secolo alla Commenda dei Cavalieri di Malta che qui vi
ebbero un grande, ricchissimo palazzo, una chiesa, una rinomata fontana nella quale “si ammiravano belle e preziose pitture”, un
bellissimo parco e giardino. La Commenda, citata da molti storici locali tra cui Domenico Casalnuovo nel 1600 e Carlo Maria L’Occaso
nel 1800, venne completamente distrutta all’inizio del secolo XVIII e sembra che sui suoi ruderi sorse uno dei latifondi della famiglia
Dolcetti, nobili castrovillaresi e ricchi proprietari terrieri, che ebbero questi possedimenti almeno fino al 1932, quando donarono parte
di essi al comune di Castrovillari per la costruzione del Villaggio Scolastico ( Fonte. Prof.ssa Ines FERRANTE )

An inscription recalls the name of Lucio Dolcetti, mayor of Castrovillari between 1892 and 1894 and at the top in a series of small panels
stands out a delicate mural painting to represent a landscape glimpse, in which you can clearly see a medieval tower, a
group of houses, the bell towers of some church and far away, against the blue background, two barcarole and marine vegetation. The land in

they had a large, very rich palace, a church, a renowned fountain in which "beautiful and precious paintings were admired", a
beautiful park and garden. The Commenda, mentioned by many local historians including Domenico Casalnuovo in 1600 and Carlo Maria L’Occaso
in 1800, it was completely destroyed at the beginning of the eighteenth century and it seems that on its ruins one of the large estates of the family was built
