Il nome del paese si pronuncia Fiumalbo in fiumalbino e Fiumêlb in dialetto modenese. Una particolarità di Fiumalbo sta infatti nel suo dialetto, che si differenzia notevolmente dagli altri dialetti parlati nella zona, sia sul versante emiliano che su quello toscano, costituendo uno dei più interessanti punti di transizione fra il tipo linguistico gallo-italico (emiliano), al quale appartiene, e quello toscano (avente un suo ceppo, distinto dai dialetti del resto del centro italia, definiti mediani), con un risultato simile ad altri dialetti settentrionali conservativi, come quelli veneti.
Fiumalbo is an Italian town of 1241 inhabitants in the province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna, located south of the capital, and is included among the most beautiful villages in Italy. It is part of the Union of Municipalities of Frignano, which has its capital in Pavullo nel Frignano.
The name of the town is pronounced Fiumalbo in fiumalbino and Fiumêlb in the dialect of Modena. A peculiarity of Fiumalbo lies in fact in its dialect, which differs considerably from the other dialects spoken in the area, both on the Emilian and on the Tuscan side, constituting one of the most interesting transition points between the Gallo-Italic (Emilian) linguistic type, to the which it belongs, and the Tuscan one (having its own lineage, distinct from the dialects of the rest of central Italy, defined as Medians), with a result similar to other conservative northern dialects, such as the Venetian ones.
