★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is places like this that make Venice magical! Sergio was so very helpful to my friend and I as we happened to come across this lovely store. Sergio explains the masks here are all authentic paper mache as originally designed, he also decorates them beautifully! The masks start as little as €15 which is a great take home gift from Venice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have visited this fabulous shop three times: in 2011 when I bought six masks (three for me, and three as gifts). They were shipped and all arrived in perfect condition Then, I visited again in 2014, with my sister and I bought two more masks, one for me and one as another gift. Two weeks ago, I returned with my daughter, who had one of the masks from 2011. This time I bought a beautiful mask that Sergio says is the face of his daughter; and I bought another gift, which Sergio is creating in a special color for me. They have not yet arrived, but I know they, too will be perfect.
You can find a ton of machine made masks all over Venice, but you will not find many made and hand painted in the traditional way. These are the real deal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Bottega Dei Mascareri is absolutely a must see in Venice. Brothers Sergio & Massimo are the nicest proprietors, amazing artists, and such a joy to talk to. With film credits for their beautifully crafted & painted masks, their shop is full of treasures to choose from. It was a privilege to meet them and bring home an authentic piece of Venice from our travels. This was our third visit to see this wonderful shop (2009, 2010, and 2019). They shipped our purchases and everything arrived in perfect condition. Definitely the highlight of our trip and a lifelong memory. What an honor to call Sergio & Massimo friends.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is my second purchase and visit. Sergio and his brother have make a large contribution to the art world and Hollywood. All their work is handmade and a true treasure. Revisiting this store was one of the only reasons I wished to revisit Venice.
