The small island of Mothia or Mozia is located in the Stagnone Lagoon in front of Marsala. (Sicily)
At an archaeological level it is very important, because it is a rare testimony of Phoenician civilization between the 5th and 6th centuries BC.
The marvelous Greek statue, in white marble, of the "Young Man of Mothia" leaves one amazed by its beauty. It was an island owned by the wealthy Withaker family, English, who over the years have dedicated their lives to find rare artifacts of a vanished city. It can be reached by boats that depart from Marsala and shuttle back / forth bringing tourists. Fascinating is the history and the tour that I invite you to do while walking around the island! There is also a bar with outside seating that makes great sandwiches!
Don't miss this visit, it's really worth it!

Enchanting place full of history. A true earthly paradise with plants of all kinds. The aloes in bloom are beautiful. I recommend visiting the island and the museum with the guide Virginia Aloisi, a true lover of her land. He thrilled us for two hours with the history of the different civilizations that landed in Sicily. He moved us with anecdotes, stories and many beautiful words. Thanks Virginia for the memory you leave us of this beautiful land!
