Il Sorpasso

Wonderfull service, great tasting food for a modest price. We were seated almost instantly at the bar. Got help with choosing dishes and had our food in about 20 minutes. The staff paired our food with an excellent wine that went well with both our lunches. Can not recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Rome.

Great little restaurant situated near Castello Sant’Angelo. Food was scrumptious and had delicious Prosecco to pair it with. Definitely recommended. Friendly staff and affordable prices

Great food, authentic and full of flavors, have to wait a bit to get a table (especially in the weekends!) but when you do get the chance to sit down, enjoy the food and drinks they serve, truly delicious! Staff was friendly and nice

My friend and I have been at “Il Sorpasso” for a business lunch. We couldn't book because the waiter told me on the phone that they accept reservations only during the weekend. I was confused about that. We decided to go there at 12.15, and we asked for a table inside because I feel not acceptable to eat in the middle of the hectic Roman traffic. I have to say this is typical in this area. Here’s the experience in short: Atmosphere & Place 6: Il Soprasso is a cosy place with a basic fitting-out. It’s nice to have the table under the glass roof, especially if the sun shines. Restrooms need a renewal ASAP, the soap dispenser was broken, and the toilette was a mess even if we arrived at the first shift and a few clients were there. The location is very close to Vatican City. Hence parking is not an option. Menu 6 ½: The menu a la carte has plenty of choices. I appreciate the variety of different dishes with a good link between the Roman tradition and other types of Italian recipes. We opted for the Tuna sticks with hand-made mayo, the amatriciana and the beef steak with sliced potatoes. All three dishes were well done and delicious. Nothing unforgettable, though. Service 6 ½: As usual, interacting with the staff was the added value to our experience. All of them were very nice and highly professional. Considering the time we arrived, I expected to have my lunch in about one hour, but it took longer without any specific reason. This is not cool, especially if you are there for a quick lunch. Bill 5 ½: Considering we had tuna, beef, and pasta with tomato and guanciale, I consider the price high compared to the raw material used to prepare them.

The food and drinks were amazing. Our waiter was awesome. He took the time to explain the menu and made great recommendations. The building was cool too. Close to the Vatican but had a local vibe.

We read from the reviews that there could be a queue during lunch time so we went there a little before 12:00. We could be seated immediately and the waitresses were lovely. They helped us with the menu translation and introduced the specials. They charge you the bread but the quality was adequate. Fruit juice was okay but very cold. Also, the ginger was super strong. The food took a while to come but we were very satisfied with the taste. Thought that the portion was small but I was still very satiated after. Next to it, we ordered a chicken trapizzino and it was very crunchy and tender! When we asked for the bill, it also took a while to arrive. Anyways, I would recommend to anyone who’s near Vatican City to visit!

Wonderful place!!! We went in the lunch time, there was good choice of everything we wanted: special pasta from today, big mix of Italian ham and cheese. Very tasty wine. Polite and friendly personal. Stylish interior and atmosphere! Highly recommend!!!! Price for two was 78€ with drinks: cocktails, glass of wine each, water.
