La Soffitta Renovatio

La Soffitta Renovatio is a delightful restaurant and a godsend for anyone traveling to Rome with severe food allergies. I personally am allergic to dairy, nuts, and eggs, and we came here because of other good reviews speaking to their competent accommodations of food allergies; they were not wrong. We spoke with the Chef, Muhammad, who was our server for our first visit, and he was able to offer confident assurances that the food I ordered would be prepared safe for my allergies. Furthermore, Muhammad was a delightful host, and made our visits to La Soffitta Renovatio all the more enjoyable. You would be most lucky to have the pleasure of meeting him when you come here. It is worth noting that though someone in our group speaks very good Italian and was able to assist with ordering, you do not need to speak Italian to safely dine with food allergies here. The chef and the rest of the staff we interacted with speak English very well, and will be able to communicate with you effectively to ensure your meal is safe. We were also surprised to see that the restaurant had a large number of options to accommodate gluten-free diets for those who suffer from celiac or gluten allergies, and even vegan options! With someone vegan in our group, this was greatly appreciated. On top of all this, the food was amazing. On our first visit, we enjoyed pizza marinara as a table, and I ordered the grilled salmon and potatoes as well as the spaghetti with clams, all expertly cooked and delicious. The following visit we again enjoyed their pizza and I loved their seared tuna. I was so eager to eat that I forgot to photograph some of the food, but trust me when I say it all looked as good as it tasted. Overall, we loved our visits to La Soffitta Renovatio, and I would strongly recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a place to eat near the Vatican or Castle St. Angelo, especially if you're looking for a place to accommodate your severe food allergies or other dietary restrictions. Nearby the Vatican sights, I chose this restaurant for lunch to grab some pasta. The Carbonara was really fantastic, and I can also recommend the fried zucchini flowers with anchovies and mozzarella I had as a starter. Service was fast and friendly. Perfect for a lunch break - very recommended.

A wonderful place! I enjoyed having new year's eve dinner here. The staff is super friendly and the food was amazing! Thank you Stefano and the rest of the team for this wonderful night. I ate gluten-free and vegan and the vegan lasagne is a dream. The vegan chocolate orange cake is the most delicious cake I ever tasted! Thank you so much!

Really love this spot. A beautiful restaurant worthy of a lovely date, solo dinner, or night out with friends/family. The owner, Maximo, is a really nice guy. He chatted with me and was very kind and open. The meal was great. My caprese with creamed basil was excellent. The creamed basil was out of this world. One of the best basil food items I’ve ever had. My ravioli was perfectly cooked, and was so savory. The coconut cake was subtle and delightfully refreshing. The restaurant itself is fairly large, with street seating and a below-street-level primary dining area. It has a chromatic aesthetic and is very cleanly. Highly recommend!

Gluten Free Heaven. The food here was beautiful! Gluten Free EVERYTHING!!!! We had Zuchinni and baby squid for starter to share €12.00 and for main I had carbonara! I have an onion and garlic allergy also. I asked for spaghetti Bolognese but they could not make the ragu without onion so I opted for the carbonara. Amazing choice. The carbonara was not creamy at all. So light , eggy and black pepper with a lovely bite to it. First carbonara ever and loved it !!! The staff .. ARE THE BEST ! So friendly, helpful, kind and just so accommodating. The waiter checked with the chef with my allergies, the spag bol etc everything without hassle. We got 2 pasta dishes for 10 euro each and 2 drinks ( wine and beer ) for 6 euro each and one starter for 12 euro. Not a bad date night and full feed for 45 euro! It's a must visit when hitting the Vatican !

Food was tasty, and had good covid-19 protocols to separate guests. Waiters were nice but not overly friendly but very professional! Would recommend, had a variety of options and pasta was cooked to perfection

Found this place via Happy Cow and we think it is possibly the best vegan Italian food in Rome. (So their “normie” food must be good too, right?) There is a separate vegan menu you must request. We got fried rice fritters to start, then spinach ravioli and eggplant parmigiana, followed by some kind of chocolate filled cannoli/beignets. Maybe it was the 5 hours of St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Museum that made everything taste so good, but we were pleasantly surprised and would definitely go again to try other items. It is close to the Vatican and although it’s is in the basement, they have outdoor seating off the curb. Service was good ?

Lovely place with delicious food! We all decided for pizza and it was so good! The staff was very friendly and attentive. Decorations of the restaurant were really interesting and cosy. Prices were good as well. I can definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner!
