Ci sono tutti gli ingredienti per una atmosfera di relax. The restaurant is very busy, but in the summer you can take advantage of the tables outside. The beer is good and the owner knows what he's doing. There are all the ingredients for a relaxing atmosphere.

Il "Mercante di Birre" è sorto così, un po' in punta di piedi, senza sconvolgimenti nella movida vercellese. E senza clamori ma con instancabile determinazione, il suo proprietario - Mauro, factotum del locale - ha elargito la sua grande cultura brassicola alla città; una cultura fatta di (precisa ma mai pedante) teoria quanto di (rinfrescante e gustosa) pratica. La sua missione continua (per la gioia di tutti) con 5 spine che ospitano a rotazione birre afferenti agli stili più disparati, tenendo conto anche delle stagionalità. C'è pure una piccola selezione di birre in bottiglia e - se proprio dovete o necessitate - qualche analcolico e acqua. Completa l'offerta la possibilità di fare aperitivo in collaborazione con un locale vicino che imbastisce taglieri e stuzzichini di prima qualità; brillante esempio di collaborazione in una realtà spesso asettica come quella bicciolana. Il locale ha una dozzina di sgabelli alti e, dopo la rinfrescata, un'intima saletta interna. Dulcis in fundo, la cultura - brassicola o meno - è cultura in quanto tale; col suo sapiente lavoro di educare al bere, Mauro ha attirato a sé un ambiente brillante, mentalmente giovane e fresco; un posto genuino, spesso frizzante, ma sempre stimolante - posto che da tempo mancava nel cuore di Vercelli. Sarebbe esagerato dire che il Mercante è un salotto illuminista, ma nessuno può negare che l'aria che si respira è dannatamente buona: Insomma: entrate dal Mercante e chiedete a Mauro una birra; sono sicuro che ci rimarrete anche per tutto il resto. A little place nestled between the little fish square and the nerve center of Piazza Cavour; a secluded corner, almost hidden from its opening. The "Mercante di Birre" was born like this, a little on tiptoe, without upsetting the Vercelli nightlife. And without clamor but with tireless determination, its owner - Mauro, the local factotum - gave his great brewing culture to the city; a culture made of (precise but never pedantic) theory but of (refreshing and tasty) practice. His mission continues (to the delight of all) with 5 spines that rotate beers pertaining to the most disparate styles, also taking into account seasonality. There is also a small selection of bottled beers and - if you really need or need - some soft drinks and water. The offer is completed by the possibility of having an aperitif in collaboration with a nearby restaurant that bases top quality cutting boards and appetizers; brilliant example of collaboration in a reality that is often aseptic as the bicciolana one. The restaurant has a dozen high stools and, after refreshing, an intimate inner room. Dulcis in fundo, culture - brewing or not - is culture as such; with his skillful work of educating to drink, Mauro has attracted to himself a brilliant environment, mentally young and fresh; a genuine place, often sparkling, but always stimulating - a place that had long been lacking in the heart of Vercelli. It would be an exaggeration to say that the Merchant is an illuminist lounge, but no one can deny that the air we breathe is damn good: In short: enter the Merchant and ask Mauro for a beer; I'm sure you'll be there for everything else.
